There is some construction going on across from Saxx and La Taza and next to Belmont BBQ. It looks like retail or restaurant to me. Does anyone know what’s going on?

i was at a party and met a guy who said he’s opening a southern style restaurant in that space (not sure if it’s the place which used to have creature gallery, the place next door or both.)

yep, Southern style with a “local” twist… using locally grown produce, etc….. hence the name “The Local” i hear that they are planning to be open in December
I heard that the guy who owns the saxx lounge sold the gentleman the building. Upon the guy’s parents paying the bill, they shortly became aware of all of the structural damage and had to practically tear down the building to meet the city codes. They had to spend an additional 100k or more after they purchased it from the guy. That was crazy! Anyway, hopefully he will get it back from the business. I will probably eat there if he doesn’t have that huge dirty looking dog which lives upstairs.

Yeah, um, it wasn’t the guy’s parents that “paid the bill”. It’s his (Adam’s), and his mother is a business partner. And! that huge dirty dog (Bailey) is a sweetheart and obviously won’t be there when they open for biz. I think it’ll be great.
