I have some issues that are really bugging me:
- What can we do to make this site better? What do you want to see more/less of? How do I get you to write and keep commenting on articles?
- Why did you start using the Gossip forums (top link: Gossip) and then stop using them? Should we keep them or destroy them? Can we make them better?
Also, thanks for gossiping over here. We’re doing a good job and it’s only getting better because of you
We love you all!

There’s just no real compelling reason to click on the forums I guess. There’s enough stories posted during the day to comment on, and the open posting system would allow anyone to get a discussion on the front page anyway.
Waldo I think was right earlier.. instead of trying to start a forum from scratch, wait until people start demanding it, then implement it. Seeing no new posts for a few days causes people to stop checking, and the forum quickly goes into a death spiral.
I post here semi-regularly, and didn’t even know the forum was really there. I saw the gossip tag and thought it would pull up the gossip posts from the blog. Guess I’ll have to pay more attention.
Need to change Gossip to “Forums.”
Agree with the above. Anything worth reading is posted on the main page, and most posts stimulate enough discussion via comments to negate the need for a forum. Also, the only cvillians frequently in the forum post topics/threads that aren’t interesting.
I have to say, I haven’t seen too many well-read and/or highly successful blogs that also have forums. In the same vein, successful discussion forums I’ve frequented do not tend to also have blogs, unless both blog and forums are parts of a separate entity (a newspaper web site, for example, may have forums as well as blogs… but the larger point is the site, the forums and blogs support that). The comments seem to take the place of forums when it comes to blogs.
Wow, how many more times can I say blog or forum in one comment? (Two, apparently. Heh.)
