It’s ironic to me that the “Dec” is the “other” voice of the student body. Though the proportion of students in fraternities and sororities –as an indicator of the school’s stereotype– is relatively high compared to similar schools at one-third, two-thirds still comprise the quiet majority at UVA. Dec writers are cultured, clever, responsible writers, with social lives even I envy, and it’s about time I give ‘em credit. Oh, and you typically won’t find them at Coupe’s.
It’s a good week to call them out, too, because they called themselves out with a feature of staff embarrassing moments. It’s worth reading the last one. Holy… crap. (Side question: is calling out to a friend and finding out it’s not your friend really that embarrassing? Come on… flatulence! bad hook-ups! drunken TMIs!) This issue’s a lot less, I don’t know, academic than usual. The word “vom” appears in it prominently, which is kind of awesome.
