Belmont gunshots not investigated

On Halloween evening, I was sitting in my home in Belmont (on Montrose Ave) when I heard a gunshot coming from across the street. I look outside my window to see someone running out of a house across the street, and quickly getting into a car that was already started. The car sped off towards Avon St.

The house is known by Belmont residents to be a place of drug commerce because of the frequent visitors pulling up in front of the house and honking their horn, subsequently being accomodated with a visit by someone from the house. There are usually shady characters outside the house taking part in “suspicious activities” as well.

Anyway, I immediately called 911 and reported the gunshot, the man running out of the house adjacent from mine and the car speeding off towards Avon St. The 911 operator said that they would send officers to the scene to investigate immediately.

After about an hour, there were still no police on-site. I went outside to smoke a cigarette, and almost as soon as I did, someone exited this house on a cell phone talking about someone getting shot!

By the time I went to bed, seemingly still no police had come by. I spoke with an officer on the downtown mall the next day and reported what happened. He made a call, and found out that an officer actually drove by the scene.

Someone was probably hurt this night, and it doesn’t seem like the Charlottesville authorities care. It seems the house is still very open for business as well, since there were a few visitors last night.

Charlottesville’s finest, eh?

It’s funny, because when we were trick-or-treating–earlier than the shooting–I could swear it was on Montrose (between Avon & Rialto) that I saw the unmarked police car, half blocking the street. This would have been about 7:30. I wouldn’t take my kids down that street because I thought something we didn’t want to get mixed up in was happening.

Nobody (i. e. media and police) gives a shit about black on black crime in this town. I’m not a politically correct person or anything, but it’s quite clear that almost the only crime that gets reported/investigated is black on white. I was, after all, one of the people sitting in Little John’s when one black guy chased another black guy into the restaurant and beat him in the head until he was covered in blood–during a packed lunch hour. Never hit the news. This town has problems.

I’m just guessing that the initial crime in this post was black on black. I mean, if it wasn’t, we might have already heard about it.

I’m really glad I’m getting jumped on for a reference to Wu-Tang Clan’s 7th Chamber… I mean, it’s not like a song that starts off with a hilarious conversation about someone getting shot could have any relevance to an overheard discussion of a shooting and the absurd police response. I guess I should refrain from hip-hop allusions on cvillain. That rap music’s just a youth fad, anyway.

Who the hell let this idiot post this crap?(I’m speaking of course of everyone but Starks, who I agree with completely)(Starks, try to keep it to one or two liners perhaps with some more humor, and post it under an ‘ethnic’ username so it’ll fly under the radar here.) When I want to let my inner ‘urban’ out, I post as Big Dawg, a gentleman so misguided he went to the chocolate festival expecting a celebration of his culture. Noone seemed to notice or take offense, then they crucified me for posting about boobies. Who knew?

Everyone of you lilly-livered little punks needs to learn to have a little respect for those brave men who get up latTe every afternoon and strap on a gun, never knowing if this is going to be their last day on earth, so that people can buy drugs when they need them. Show a little respect for a change. Just remember, everytime you kikking back to a snoop or wu-tang joint, you got a drug dealer to thank. Also, as if that weren’t public service enough, they are about the only ones that can hold back the flood of the damn yuppie breeders that want to be takin over belmont with their coffee shops and strollers. CoFFEEe is daMn drug tooo!!!
