X-Lounge is a douche buffet, end of story. seriously, any place named so awfully is going to be flocked with douch-baggery.
Went their once. And despite the fact that I was twice his age, could have beaten him to a pulp and donate more to charity in a month than he makes in a year the waiter came off as superior and condescending. Just have no time for such. Wearing black and rolling your “rrr’s” when saying Risotto mean very little in the real world. So I jammed him on a couple of drink orders. I mean really, a top dawg tron’ does know Lillet….dont they?
Hey, hey, hey. Lay off the Darden students. I know a few new Darden students who are nice, down to earth, people. If you want a really interesting sight, check out a Jag School event. The crowd will be 99% men…99% great looking men.
Darden students: Docker and Abercrombie wearin, cosmo and turning leaf drinkin’, overly uptight, arrogant in a loserish sort of way.
Law students: just pretty much overly uptight.
Maybe things have changed drastically in terms of looks in the past 6 or 7 years, and they suddenly are all attractive. It was never the case, and as a rule is not the case at any law or grad school in the country.
X lounge tugs. Can we quit talking about it? Of course it sucks. It always has. Don’t let it bother you.

There are plenty of bars with couches in town, if that’s what you’re looking for.
Anyone go to X Lounge before it was X Lounge? When it was a flower shop that turned into a big party every once in a while?
But, Upstart, you can’t argue with the design of X. Hands down, it’s the nicest looking bar in town and I want to be in a nice looking place when I’m dropping benjamins on cocktails. I certainly don’t want to be in bluelight.
Upstart: I remember those parties, and they were the ill na-na.
Went to Millmont Grill yesterday, they have a nice lounge area.
Although the X-lounge is easy on the eyes, it’s still called the fucking X-LOUNGE. I’m sorry, I just can’t seem to get over that.
Perhaps when I want to “lounge” I’ll just go to the Tea House for my over-priced beer or glass of wine.
The idea of X Lounge is nice. The actuality, not so nice. Sausage fest featuring lots of douches. Slow bar. Terrible beer (am I the only one who feels like it is always skunky tasting?). I’ve only actually eaten there once, but it was great. Maybe I/we should try the dinner hour more often?
Funny story from a couple of years ago…Me and some friends were enjoying a bunch of drinks while in the far back booth downstairs. My buddy Ben, a bartender, when up to the bar and ordered us a round of shots. When we took them, they were probably the most vile thing I’ve ever tasted, and everyone agreed. Whatever the bartender had done, he screwed them up bad. I was gagging and making strange faces, as was everyone else. One girl actually threw it up. Of course, they decided that she was wasted and should have been kicked out, even though she was quite coherently arguing with them that it was just a really bad tasting shot (as were the rest of us). When they insisted she still leave, we all left, and then she threw an ashtray through the window.
X-Lounge is nothing fantastic. The only reason why it’s maybe considered ‘good’ is everything else is pretty blah.. compared to bars in DC or any decent sized city, X-Lounge would be at the bottom of the barrel.
But she wasn’t drunk, right?!?
Wow. I’ve had hit or miss food, but they’ve got some new menu items I really liked.

dont i remember the x-lounge being the first sponsor ever on this site? in the name of objectivity, perhaps you two (and anyone else with a big stake in the site) should keep away from these debates about the suckiness of your sponsors.
Well, I don’t think there is anything objective about anything on this site, considering it’s about opinions.
But if you do want me to be objective, X-Lounge has a great layout but the food could be a lot better. They can’t do chese fries right.. COMON.
We don’t pander to our any advertisers, even our first. Don’t you think it would be a little ridiculous to start biasing our opinions when everyone else can say whatever they want? Advertisers know this site is about open opinions. Advertisers don’t have to advertise here, but eventually every site will have to be as open as we are.

Tim, those windows are single panes of cheap glass, and small at that. The one your friend broke probably set them back a couple of bucks. I’m guessing they were glad to have the ashtray back, probably cost them more… next time she should just put it in her pocket.
Oh, and I think the fact that Lilith posted this under the title “WTF was wrong with X-Lounge last night” goes a long way to establishing her objectivity with regard to a recent sponsor/advertiser…. either that or J.F.’s check bounced….just kidding j.f.
Interesting. There are apparently two different X Lounges: the early evening one and the late night one. I’ve only been in early. I adore many items on the menu and keep wondering when people are going to ‘discover’ the food and make it impossible to just walk in and be seated. As for the name, I asked and X is Francois’ middle initial — also the X-shaped staircase. There aren’t any lounges or bars in Virginia because state law doesn’t allow us to have them: only restaurants that serve alcohol; so the comparison to DC which functions under different laws lacks validity for me.

Good point on the alcohol/food law .. that’s probably why there are no good clubs in Virginia, and certainly not in C-ville.

216 isn’t bad, yeah, I just haven’t been in a while. I liked it a lot, though the prices are a bit outrageous, but when you’re the best game in town, I guess you have that luxury.
R2 is just dreadful. I can’t say enough bad things about it. I’m torn that I love the actual R2 club sandwich and that I’m indirectly supporting that club by continuing to eat it.
