Vote

Ok, so the only thing worse than voting tomorrow is trying to get through to the polls without having to talk with one of those annoying lemmings that attacks you like you haven’t made up your mind. I can’t stand those people.

Who are you voting for? What issues do you think people need to consider for tomorrow?

P.S. go to Charlottesville Podcasting Network to hear all the candidates talk about their positions.

Thanks for the post! And, if you have any questions about where candidates stand, visit Charlottesville Tomorrow’s Election Watch page. All of the files on CPN first appeared there.

Polls open at 6am. And, having been one of those “annoying lemmings” in the past, believe me, you have no idea how many people go to the polls and have no clue who they’re voting for. Tons of people actually go to the polls to learn about the candidates and make a spot decision. The lemmings may be annoying, but they are definitely effective.

My rental company (I assume it was them) took the liberty of putting signs for a candidate up in my front yard, and when I took it down, they put it back up again. I know they technically own the property, but it’s my yard for all intents and purposes, and that’s bullshit how they can do that.

Ethan, take a sharpie and write in ’sucks’ after the candidates name…. or just put them in a dumpster somewhere. Since the election is tomorrow I don’t think it matters at this point.
[if your signs have a picture, go nuts drawing a crazy mustache]

Crud Buster, drive by Ethan’s house and see whose signs his rental company put up in his yard, then vote for whoever is running against them. That’ll cancel out any advantage they got from sticking them there…. that’ll teach ‘em. Wouldn’t it all be easier if we just had one candidate running for each office like Cvillized countries (North Korea, Iran come to mind)[calm down people that was sarcastic]

Vote for Peter Kleeman. If you want to know more about where he stands, visit his blog at http://www.kleemanforcouncil.blogspot.com. An independent candidate has never successfully won a spot on the city council and this is the time to change that. If you were at the city council meeting tonight, you would have gotten a chance to see exactly why things need to change. We need transparency and leadership who is open to the public being part of the process..Don’t waste your votes by voting strictly along party lines…We need checks and balances and leadership that can stick to the vision plan our city has outlined for the future. Look at any of the streaming city council meetings over the years and you will see that this is a man who has been engaged in issues all over the city for a long time.

    Arin Sime.
That being said, after visiting my old stomping grounds on The Cape and Boston for the past 5 days, literally no one outside of our little enclave knows this place even exists. There is no there there. I’m not talking about this insular website, I’m referring to the town of Charlottesville itself. Yada, yada, yada..sound and fury and all that. Another politician talking about change. Change. Right. It’s time to throw the tea back into the harbor, and the lot of all of our “representatives” with it. Preferably in that dirty water. We the PEOPLE. Moo.

In any event, I’m not convinced we actually exist outside of this purple haze surrounding our little bubble. In conclusion, it’s all an enormous joke, and politics and the denizens of the system and BELIEVERS in this system are duped by those who just CYA all the day long. Both “partys” I work with these people and they are sleazes who have elevated themselves into a kingdom of their own minds. Demagogues. All of them.

And if one more damn person mentions our “democracy” I may perform unhuman acts upon their souls for eternity. Yo…we ostensibly have a “representative republic” and if anyone wants to check the originators fervently believed that democracy was the most tyrannical form of government known to man and doomed to failure.

Also, (and I’ve had multiple cocktails at this point) how many of you outliers have had the same experience…you go home or away and you say “I live in Charlottesville” and there is a blank expression or…”Is that in North Carolina” or you start to break it down….”Ever hear of Thomas Jefferson?” Blank. “The University of Virginia?” …tick..tick..tick. “It’s in the middle” you finally end up with. So us oh so important people…in this oh so important town…I’d say about 99 percent of America doesn’t have a clue or could locate us on a map. The election doesn’t matter a flying fuck, because none of them do. The end.

Aww, Taliesin, such cynicism warms my heart. I have a fundamental problem with the process - I’d never vote for anyone who actually wanted to hold public office. Vote anarchy, and vote often!!

Since the majority of people dont vote, if it were true majority rule then you know who hold all the offices? Nobody!

/considered running for city council this year on an absurdist platform.

Taliesin, the teenagers and 20-somethings definitely know this place exists. I have a niece who asks about DMB member sightings every time I see her.

Upstart, I think you prove Taliesin’s point when C-ville is less well known as the home of the man who brought us “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” than the one who brought us “Ants marching”
Yo, you would have had my vote.
