Why does the east end of the downtown mall smell like an indoor swimming pool today? Actually, I first noticed it yesterday afternoon, sitting in my car at the intersection of Market & 9th. We felt somewhat overpowered in the car, and didn’t escape the smell until we were well up Park St. Today I noticed the same smell as I walked past City Hall on my way to the post office. Has anyone else noticed this? Seriously, it smells like there’s a chlorine leak somewhere down there.

Speaking of mystery smells, why does the Cafe Cubano/Dumpling mini-mall area smell like garbage ANY time you walk in? The smell never leaves….yet no one remarks about it…Places that sell food should not have that smell around, makes you wonder no?
I cannot eat at Cubano for this reason, it is awful. I dont typically eat my dumplings at the restaurant (to go girl all the way).
Did anyone figure out what it was? Perhaps the newsites? I know cvillian is a news outlet.
One of customers tonight who works near the smell said something was done at the Pavilion today. I’m guessing some sort of protective lacquering for the winter months? Maybe sealing the cement on the stage, who knows.
Thanks Dan from Eppie’s. I bet that was it.
or maybe they were using old swimming pool water for the washing-down of the pavilion that was going on? fyi, I believe all the City’s plant-watering and such uses “caught” water from city ponds, and I bet they use water drained from the swimming pools for stuff like this…
