I have seen rock and roll’s future and it is April 30th in Charlottesvile. ;-)

Looks like the rest of the shows go on sale sometime in early December, I wish they’d wait until January for the Cville show. The industry is getting weirder and weirder by putting tickets on sale months and months in advance of the shows. The ticket companies and promoters not only screw us with “convenience fees” but they get to keep our cash for months, earning interest.

Anyway, end of rant about ticketing. This will be a great show, Bruce still brings it.

Actually, this has been on dailyprogress.com all day, so I actually heard it there first, but whatever. More importantly: BRUUUUUUUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It occurs to me now that by “first” you meant the post in September, in which case I retract my previous statement.
    :(

I have seen the future of Rock and Roll and it involves sucking hundred dollar bills out of a vast bowl of pre-chewed food through an Armani straw while a minature dog does parlour tricks to distract the attention of any potential renegade icarus from his skyward visions.

Then again, coulda been the drugs.

Belmont, it must be the drugs, ‘cuz I have no idea what you just said. It sounds like some sort of statement about the high cost of tickets and the crowd Bruce might attract these days, but I am probably too much of a linear thinker to get it.

But then again, I did lots o’ drugs back in the day, so why can’t I understand????????? Should I break out the Hunter S. Thompson style-sheet in order to gain some comprehension?

Tom Robbins - definately Tom Robbins

Jeez. I thought it was pretty straight forward.

Yay! My little birdies (apparently not as well connected as your birdies, UpStart) had been talking about this one for quite a while, as well. Happy to hear that it all finally came to pass! And at least the tix should be a LOT more affordable than those ridiculously priced ones to see The Police.

i don’t know how much the police tickets were, but my lower level (but on the opposite end of the stadium) tickets for bruce in philly were $95 plus charges. i think upper level were $65. not sure how comparable prices are venue to venue, just throwing that out there.

    Why?

And weren’t police tickets going for like $12 on craigslist? Might I be able to see the Boss for the tuppance I fish from yon sofa cushions?

Belmont, I got it this time! The change that falls into the sofa cushions! Tuppance threw me for a sec, but I didn’t have to drop a hit of acid to comprehend! ;-)

Springsteen tix have been $65-$95, quite reasonable compared to many artists of his stature and longevity. I don’t think they’ll be available on the cheap right before the show as readily as the Police tix were, for a couple of reasons:

    1) scalpers made mincemeat out of the Police ticketing process, which falsely inflated demand. Bruce has had scalper-resistant policies in place for some time and while not fool-proof, are better than The Police clusterf**k.

    2) Bruce fans travel to see him, a lot more “real” fans than those who were wanting to see the Police for nostalgia reasons.

Working in our favor is the fact that there are two DC shows this fall. So, we probably won’t have as many casual fans from outside the area trying to grab up tickets. It’s the last show of the tour, so some diehards will come, but I’m not as worried as I’d be if we were having the only show in the region.

i went to the show in pittsburgh and i had an extra ticket that i couldn’t even give away because there were so many people selling ridiculously cheap tickets moments before it started.

I hope you’re right Kate, ebay and stubhub already have tickets up, anywhere from $200 for a single to $1500 for four, we’ll see if they drop.
