The Hollywood writers’ strike continues, and the place to go for the “scoop” is Nikki Finke’s deadlinehollywooddaily.com.
On November 26, the New York Times ran a piece about Finke, a Cinderella tale in which Variety and the Reporter are the evil step-sisters of Hollywood gossip and Finke is the one with the real crystal ball… er… shoe. (On a related note, Finke reviews Enchanted, and it’s still on her splash page.)
I’m cheering for Finke (and the writers) all the way. I like her style! With 350,000 page views and 2,000 incoming e-mails a day, she’s doing something right, and she’s got an impressive resume to warrant her success. I’m mostly impressed with Finke for doing what she loves and sticking it to the man. And she is really sticking it to him. Quotes Finke about the experience: “It’s been brutal, but it’s also been exhilarating because I love news. I love it — a scoop is better than sex.”
Honey, whatever turns you on!
