By the likes of this document, Foxfield Races & Biltmore. Is anyone surprised?
Here are the names & objections by the ABC:
Biltmore Grill - “UAB” (I think this is “underage” something, but I don’t know) - Court Date: Wednesday.
Foxfield Races - “Cause exists – Peace and good order” ( no clue) - Court Date: Yesterday and Today@ 9AM.

No cases for us, BUT my agent was in Wednesday and said to MAKE SURE to card everyone. This seemed like a good time to give a heads up to the other bars on the mall:) He seemed to be implying they have a list of places downtown they will be checking soon. Hope to see you at Kiki soon! That is, if you are 21!:) xo!
UAB = underage buyer; “peace and good order” is a legally vague catchall for bad behavior (at Foxfield? No!!).
Why is our society so prudish about drinking? If responsible drinking was taught and encouraged at a younger age, we wouldn’t have the problem we do now with excessive drinking among students.
I guess this begs the bigger question after reading Kiki’s response.. How do restaurants think about the ABC? I know we were always freaked out by the agents when i worked at places in town.
I get cases AT the abc, but have no other interest in them.
speaking of legally vague…..
This is one of many rules for a licensee from the ABC.
“What type of clothes can be worn in the restaurant by employees?”
“Basically, any type clothing may be worn provided it has not been provided by a wholesaler. However, on the premises of a mixed beverage licensee clothing which stresses nudity or near nudity is prohibited.”
I was wondering what kind of clothing “stresses nudity”.
kiki - you should get your ladies work TShirts that say “This shirt stresses nudity or near nudity”
headin’ to the tshirt making shop! We’ll put it on Sarah tonight!
Thanks for the great idea! See you tonight!
NO WAY, THERE ARE UNDERAGE DRINKERS AT BILTMORE!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?
Lies.
I started a thread about ABC in other states a while ago, before we had the lively community we do now
I worked in another state where I was as concerned about getting arrested for serving a drunk person as I was about serving someone underage. The agents were really strict on it. And my friends kept coming in barely able to walk, ordering Patron shots. Awesome. My manager said a lot of his employees got arrested at some point, and he’s always bailed them out right away so they don’t have to spend a night in jail.
apparently kevin was on the prowl on wednesday…he also stopped in my bar on wednesday and politely warned me to make sure we’re carding people. of course i am, i don’t want to lose my job just to serve some underage person!
I’ve heard the ABC hires underage snitches to go and try to get served at bars. What kind of 18-20 year old loser does that?
an 18-20 year old loser who got caught drinking underage…from what i hear they get their charges dropped if they do this for ABC
A loser who’s been popped already (underage possession, DUI, etc.)
The first time I was politely asked if I understood my rights as they had been read to me, my best friend and I had bought drinks for two cute cops in a hometown bar (we were 19…. maybe 20?). It was an intimidation tactic, we didn’t go to jail, but they went to extremes to let us know that we could. We were expected, after making statements to that effect, to testify that we had been served without being ID’d at said bar. About this time it came to our attention that the owners of the bar were part of a criminal enterprise which one might say was not dis-organized! Subpoenas were issued.
I had either just left there (for here) and was back for a visit, or was to do so shortly so I never showed up at court (maybe there’s a warrant out there somewhere, but they’ll never catch Clark Throckmorton!) My friend didn’t have to testify, deals were cut, so the story’s anti-climactic, but I’m sure its the ending typical to such circumstances.
As for me, already a fugitive from justice I went on a drug-fueled six-state crime spree, but thats another story.
