Last Day of Exams is Today!

…Thus begins the long hiatus of Charlottesville. Believe it or not, returning family members make the town quite the happening place. Our standard fare of Blue Light, South Street and Mellow Mushroom get the most traffic from now-removed townies.

Enjoy it while it lasts. They come back in 4 weeks.

It’s also getting really quiet on the mall during the day. Our site traffic is dipping a little because of all the holiday distractions. Oh well. We have a kickass 2008 planned!

    this is my favorite time of year for bars in cville. i atually go to the corner during this hiatus. its nice. hopefully orbit has some good wednesday nights lined up…..

    yay! As a corner resident, I’m most pumped about finally getting the parking spot closest to my apartment. I am gonna miss overhearing all the amazing conversations in the hallway outside my front door. Like last night: “Can you see my butt crack?” “No, you’re cool…. where are we?”

    Some students will return for the newly-created “J-term,” a quick cash-grab of a session (for the U) where students can take one class, shoved down their throats, for a quick 3 credits at full-tuition prices. Classes meet on 8 days over January 2-11. Not sure how many students the Registrar thinks they’ll have this year.

    if you grew up here it’s a fun time of year to gather with everyone (who moved away) visiting family for the holidays…..nice cozy corners at the C&O and don’t forget that cozy C&O barthroom!

    I too love the idea of actually finding parking, around here. Winter break, and summer, are my favorite times of the year for going out! Far fewer students, reasonable parking and less crowded, generally. The corner just isn’t a place I like to be, mid-term. I’ll stick to the mall, during winter. Close enough to walk to, for me. Far enough away that the cold usually keeps students to a minimum.

    Here’s a great way to celebrate: the Charlottesville Music Showcase’s Christmas Jam is tonight (Wednesday) at Orbit. The music starts at 9 PM (a little earlier than usual for us early risers). They’ll start acoustic, then DJ XSV will go on, then they’ll do a plugged in set.
