100,000 Page Views: BOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAAAA

Historians, mark your calendars: cVillain has just crossed the 100,000 page views/month mark!

[kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.youtube.com/v/hU8k_c2YlG4″ height=”350″ width=”425″ /]

What this means is that in the last 30 days, we’ve had visitors look at our pages over 3,000 times a day. While this is nothing in the great scheme of things, it still is an important milestone for our site because we focus on local stuff. I’ll let potential advertisers know another dirty little secret:

UNLIKE OTHERS, WE FILTER OUT ADMINISTRATOR PAGE VIEWS

So, our traffic is pure, sexy, awesome and not generated by those people behind the scenes who visit the site more than anyone else.

We are 100% committed to building Charlottesville’s leading online destination and thank everyone for contributing! We have an awesome community and we couldn’t have done it without you.

As always, please let us know what we can do to improve things!

Brilliant, Thor, post something like that and then have the slowest comment-day I’ve seen in months. Anyone out there want to fire up a little IM to help out the god of blunder?

First of all, fantastic job on the 100K success. merry christmas to all villains everywhere!

So, doooooooofus, how was your day? I did a little trespassing, a little office partying, a little christmas cookie eating. And my day is only half done.

  6. 21 Dec 2007 at 5:38 pmhipster-doofus said:

I did none of the above. tell me more about the trespassing [only a c-misdemeanor by the way, if you’re going to impress.. you’ll have to try harder my dear]

I think I’ll keep the trespassing under wraps, actually. Got my rep as an upstanding citizen on the line. [I think in general my life can be summed up that when attempting to impress, I never really try hard enough.]

Not true, maude. You impressed us all wednesday with your ability to be led out on a week-night, not to mention your drinking stamina. well done, girl.

also, and this was sweet, i found out tonight that anybody in the whole world can get on this site and harvest my email address. it was so exciting to learn.

you can do it right now if you’re internet-ty enough. but it turns out you should probably use a ghost email account when you do, because hey!

    INTERNET!

Parlie, I’m with you, dude. Brand spankin’ new anonymous gmail account for me. Emphasis on the spankin’, of course. Sorry that I missed the teahouse, though. Next time!

  27. 22 Dec 2007 at 11:20 amparlie said:

i tried to go to the teahouse, but they had closed it. ran out of tea, i guess.

the funny part was the girls that we picked up on the walk to the tea house. they were sitting on a bench waiting to meet up with some guys who were going to take them to 216. who were the guys?

“oh we don’t know them. we met them on craigslist!”

they decided not to hang out with us because the tea house idea seemed “sketch.” so you know, HAVE FUN WITH YOUR INTERNET RAPISTS AT 216.

    T&L and BBM,
I think the site’s pretty sweet.
Small improvement suggestions (more coding than content I would guess):
    1) in some Internet Explorer windows (I usually use Mozilla, but anyways), the column on the right (recent posts, links, etc.) get shifted to the bottom of the screen, as opposed to being on the right, where it’s useful.
    2) In mozilla, on my Google homepage (see pic), where you’ve got your own tab, clicking on the cVillain header doesn’t do anything. For some of the other blogs I read, you can just click on the header and the site opens (for example talkingpointsmemo or the NYT homepage). Don’t know why this doesn’t work for your site.
    3) Said google homepage, which has an rss updater, can be slow to update new cVillain postings. For example, I’ll open up cVillain and see 2 or 3 new topics which weren’t on my google homepage.
Small stuff, none of which is very important. Just tweaks FYI.
    Adios.
