The C-Ville Weekly Does Something With Staples

The C-Ville just did some changes for a new publishing year. I’m happy.

Changes Summarized:

Stapled the Pages Together (THANK GOD)

News, Arts, Living: The 3 Sections

Bigger Font (if you add a wine section, you gotta appeal to the grey hairs so they can read it)

Do you like the changes?

What did they call the new wine section? I remember thinking when I read it that was really appealing as a reader.

Doesn’t it look a lot like the Hook now? Except without the good color or the excellent design work? I don’t know, I think it’s a big improvement from what they were working with before, and hopefully this new design will mean that they keep those busy cartoons off the cover from now on, but it seems like a desperate cry to look like their (seemingly) more successful competitors…who would have seen that one coming 7 years ago?

Unless you guys can provide facts about ad revenues and awards in competitions that both papers submitted design/articles to, I ask that you not make assumptions about which is more “successful.”

But hi mary and Kaitlyn and sandy, welcome, snaps for new people! Help yourselves to cookies and lemonade.

i liked the no staples because it made it easier to throw out all the superfluous restaurant listings.

speaking of the new c-ville, is anyone else superpsyched for the new aroma’s?

I’m crazy about the staples, but not 100% in love with the font or the layout.

I hate the staples* and am glad to see them go (if only for one week)

    * Makes folding paper difficult
    * Makes tearing out a page (sometimes I rip out the suduko puzzle for later enjoyment) very difficult
    * It’s a waste of metal and energy
    * I like the fly-away nature of newspapers

Has C’ville made any statement about it? Another YouTube video extolling the virtues of not making the changes that one makes a big deal about changing perhaps? Whatever’s going on, I have to agree with tommy d that this is a little amusing.

I love staples. I read the tabloids on the trolley, and I hate when pieces fall out. It’s actually harder to fold *without* staples because the top pages slide around. I like to be able to hold any page and not have the thing come apart on me. Especially now when it’s glove season and I can’t feel the paper as well. Plus, when you read a paper w/o staples outdoors, the wind can take a piece. Up with staples.

haha Batesville…I’m sure that the ladies on p. 47 who are being commended for the fashion choices are thrilled to be next to a beautiful naked woman…bet they can’t wait to send that one home.
