Stuff to do tonight

Beer tasting at Beer Run, 5-7pm
And get this. It’s ROGUE. And it’s FREE.

Will Kimbrough with Amy Loftus at Gravity Lounge, 7pm
I hear things. Good things. $10 and $15.

Steve Kemper and his robotic string instrument performer at the Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative, 8pm
This is so over my head. (In a good way.)

Cleb Stine at Twisted Branch Tea Bazarre, 10pm
Because where would the US be without country rock? Or creative bathroom graffiti?

DJ eSc at Escafe, I see 11pm in listings but it often starts earlier
I’m impressed with the tribute to Heath… It’s tragic, no? Brad Renfro died last week, now this. I’ve heard an amazing remix of the Brokeback Mountain theme. Movie themes can be pre-tty powerful. Yupster and I are fans of the cafeteria, she with the pumpkin vodka, I with… well I won’t incriminate myself.

Yeah, I think it would be good to open with the very bestest remix of the ten million mixes of that song out there. Its a sad, sad song, but then, its a sad thing. I love this mix. The we can move back to the boogie.

Thanks for the “hump day bump” (which was the original name of the wed parties at the café, incidently).

The song is called The Wings by Gustavo Santaolalla, by the way.

BTW, meant to tell you on Friday, B’Yo: way cool flyers! Very impressed with those. Totally the complete opposite of boring.

… but I wouldn’t know anything about it.

Beer Run is part of my new wed routine. 1 beer. 1 taste. go home. load shit in car. nap. organize cd’s. go to cafe. boogie!

Why oh why hasn’t the Tea Bazaar updated their calendar? I used to be able to get pretty accurate info about shows from there. They were usually pretty spot-on with their descriptions of the music. If it sounded like I would like it, I usually did.

Oh and pumpkin vodka- kinda like an addiction, actually, if I had one… or if I acknowledged that those exist… Micah pulls out the bottle when I come in, and it’s so exciting! And cool he remembers, right? He could say “you again…” but no, pumpkin vodka.

I second the bit about posting earlier. This stuff is great, but I don’t read this site until I get home. Then, too late. :( For people like me, it probably only works if it’s the day before. Still, it’s nice to know there was this awesome tasting at Beer Run.

Another thing you could’ve done last night: buy mangos at Harris Teeter. They’re 5 for $4 and summer-ripe.

    Escafe went like this:
B-yo: filled me in on his insane day-to-day schedule. How the hell does he even have time to post on here?

Guy next to me at the bar: Nice dude but just because you have an Iphone doesn’t mean you should use it to sit alone and check your Myspace. So I sat next to him and unloaded my dating drama.

Richard B: Accused him of being Thor to his face. He just laughed.

Please don’t hate on the tea bazaar. Just because they don’t have a 400watt (or 20,000watt - WTF?) sound system or the newest hip wine/beer/dance scene, does not mean it isn’t often one of the best places to go downtown. I’d be happy to write an article about it, should there be interest, but I think it’s been around long enough that most people know about it. I also enjoy getting stoned on my thoughts - it’s cheaper.

Thor: Whatchoo talkin’ bout? I named someone who claims to not even know what c-Villain is. At least that’s what he said in the hot tub…
And here’s where NOT to go on a Thursday: X Lounge
Normally, I think the place is great. But apparently tonight was douchebags-packing-in-like-sardines night.
(Hey, let’s all go stand right next to each other ! Like at a concert! Except it’s just a shitty DJ!)
And nobody was hot. Except us…
Good thing some of us C-villains were there to bring the funk. Too bad we pretty much got kicked out for dancing on elevated surfaces.

Getting kicked out=go directly to jail, do not pass go. And by jail, I mean “awesomer bar”…and by go I mean “the tab.” Many good times tonight…one of the best I’ve had in weeks.

if you got any more enlightened than the tea bazaar then you would float off the planet. the least you could do is liveblog it while it happens.
