Recap of the Non-Elitist Wine Party at Crush

Hot holy hell that was fun. If you take a little saunter around the site, you’ll find some highly amusing drunk conversations in the comments, such as a debate over the quality of Wes Anderson’s more recent works. By the time that was being debated, I believe I had finished my Leffe and Lean Cuisine and was watching a French chick flick sideways– really hard to focus when you’re laying down on your couch. And tipsy. Who’s classy now?

How fun was your night?

Huge thanks to Gregg and Paul, who did an amazing job last night at Crush. If the thought of alcohol does not want to make you curl up in the fetal position and wail, they are doing another tasting this evening. They’re working with La Taza– you may purchase a bottle of wine at Crush and, for a small $5 corking fee, enjoy it across the street with dinner. The menu includes small plates, and I know cVillains will enjoy south-of-the-border approaches to cupcakes and bread pudding.

Holy crap, women villains are hot. Had no idea that several of my “real world” crushes are villainettes. I may have to restrain myself and try not to come across so “oy’ish” - Lilith, can you edit my “question of the week” post and make the question something thoughtful, romantic, deep, philosophical, etc. Chicks dig that shit.

X was *insane* (did we actually pay our tab? Do I owe someone for a couple of Widmers?). I’ve never, ever ever seen it that packed - even Toga and Disco night didn’t draw that many people.

We were crammed in so tight that I think I’m no longer an anal virgin…

not as sorry as you’re gonna be!

    whatever that means

yeah X was nuts…i never go but these lawyer broads dragged us there against our will. Needless to say i was there for an hour and was able to snatch a round of drinks. Soco lime??7 dollars?? are we in effin new york. give me a break. but the chicks were hot, and gonna be rich some day so i guess i’m ok with it.

Damn, but that was a lot of fun. Let me know if I unknowingly owe more money from X. I left $8 for a $4 beer, so I was hoping to help cover some of the food items, too. They don’t swipe tips at X, do they? Kidding! And big thanks to the guys at Crush. What a total, all out party. You guys rock!

quite simply, I love everyone. Thanks for coming out. I totally was amazed at how many cute girls were there. WOW. Keep coming!

X was indeed insane, as everyone has attested, but the music was totally sweet (PS: ThatGrrl has excellent musical tastes). Luckily, my headache is not insane. I’m not sure we ever paid since we were just trying to get kicked out…but if anybody did pay, I’d be happy to throw some money your way, especially since I ordered extra food for myself.

And they may have been wasted comments, but I still stand by what I said about Wes Anderson. And parlie’s mom.

Damn it.. I’m such a flake. I missed yet another event, but only because I was called into work right before it started. I’m totally prioritizing the next cVillain thing… when free alcohol & bbq aren’t at the top of the list, I’ve clearly lost my focus.

Haven’t seen Paris Je T’aime yet, but Umbrellas (or Parapluies if you want to get snobby) an absolutely beautiful film, and seeing a young Catherine Deneuve is always a pleasure. Too bad it had such a downer ending.

Much thanks to Crush for hosting last night. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to trying out the bottle of wine we bought. I definitely liked Wine #3 (the Zin/Cab/kitchen sink blend) best. Sadly, I wasn’t able to fully appreciate any of the beers (not even the Chimay) in the context of trying the wine. Too much for my senses, I guess.

H-D - while wearing a sheep-costume in heels and thigh-highs. Pictures were taken, money is being extorted.
