Stuff to do this weekend

Friday

Wine tasting at Crush Wine Shop, 5:30 to 8, featuring a blind tasting at the end. Tell Gregg and Paul if you’re a cVillain! After, you can take your bottle of wine across the street and, for a $5 corking fee, enjoy it with dinner at La Taza. Sweet and spicy small plates will be offered, about $8 per. Heart of Belmont.

Want more wine? Wine tasting at Market Street Wineshop, 5-7:30. Yupster wrote it up last week, I loved it too. Some of the staff members are cVillains, so if you go, tell them you are, too. You guessed it, Market Street.

MORE? Awesome. Wine tasting at Beer Run, 5 to 7. Lambrusco, rose, and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Carlton Ave. The new shopping center.

If you play kickball or if you can fake it: Kickball party at Mellow Mushroom, 7 to whenever, happy hour specials until 9. The corner, but kind of past the corner.

Want to see Stanley’s hot beard? Want to have your face rocked off? Want to get out of this city for a night? Sons of Bill with The Sometime Favorites at the Rocktown Grill, 9 until they’re done. Harrisonburg, duh.

Not your Sunday service organ. Six Organs of Admittance with Grand Banks at the U.Va. Chapel, doors at 8. It’s put on by Satellite Ballroom with Tyrannosaurus Rock. I’d pay $8 to hear this guy rock out some indie melodies at the chapel. Can’t go, so someone PLEASE check it out… and review it. University Ave, on Grounds.

Apparently, they’re back! That must be a good thing, right? Walker’s Run at Maya, 10 and free. Bluegrass. West Main.

Eames Coleman Trio at Mono Loco, 10:30 and free. We likey the monkey. Water St.

Bukbukbegak bartends at McGrady’s. Ask for the Irish blowjob. Preston Ave in the big red building.

If you haven’t been yet, this is a favorite cVillain haunt with a favorite cVillain behind the turntables. DJ ESC at Escafe, 11 until you fall off the bar. (Don’t fall off the bar.) Click the “continue reading” to see belmont yo’s badass ad. West end of the mall.

Want to see what’s happening Saturday?

Ooooh, I forgot to mention the friday dance parties at the cafe picked up a regular (recurring) liquor (brand) sponsor (which of course I cant put on the flyers, and Im not sure if I can mention who here even). I dont know if its tonight, or it starts next friday, but this is good. Mad drink specials, goodies, freebies, fun.

When Cane Ten Rum sponsored a random friday a few months back the doors blew off the hinges and all liquors sales were broken that night. (including New Year’s Eve, mardi gras and the playboy party).

    People. Got. Looooose. More please.

As a parent of small children I can only have organized fun on training wheels, so hopefully we can hit Crush’s wine-tasting tonight on our big night out after missing last night’s free-for-all.

byo, tell their rep to get in touch with us if you get a chance.

I’ll tell the GM to tell the rep… I have only ever met one or two reps for sponsored parties.

And why would I be telling them to this? Permissions? Networking? Not paranoid, just curious.

I gotta say, the Eames Coleman Trio is pretty awesome.

    um….. FREE BOOZE FOR CVILLAINS!

Well that would rock, but I have no idea how these things work. I just know that we picked up a sponsor, and for whatever reason, the sponsored parties, while sporadic, have been way fun.

Cane ten I came home (as did others) with t-shirts, weird athletic orange wristbands… key chain dealies… y’know swag. And there were oodles of mojito samples, which is why I think every table an surface was packed. I didn’t even know the gig was sponsored til I walked in and was presented with the wristbands.

This paricular brand has been providing the glowy necklace toys off and on for a couple weeks now so I think it may be happening. I’ll try to get more deets tonight.

That should be a bumper sticker, Thor. Or a battle cry. If it isn’t already.

    It’s both.

Saturday festivities to be added to the list include the SNL holiday party at Zocalo (your big chance to hit on drunk financial types when they’re all dressed up), and the 5-year anniversary party at Mas. Should be fun! By the way, anybody hit up the veggie singles gathering last night at Mono Loco?

  20. 25 Jan 2008 at 7:10 pmlilith said:

I think they’re invite-only. But Nelsonian, welcome! Help yourself to baked Lays and white zinfandel. The fondue is almost ready.

Is this the right place to post a ‘thank you’ to the very somewhat understanding bouncer who threw us out of X last night. Three warning were appreciated as we had lots of fun between the first and the last.

there’s Metal & the Dawning at Outback Lodge which (I think) has Cville’s best sound. Ask anyone who has played there.

Hell Within (Berkly School of music grads, from Boston)
    Property (local old school metal)
Demolition Faction (heavy stuff from Delaware)
    9:00 PM
    I think it’s only $6
