Is The Box finally opening? I thought I had heard it was still running behind schedule.
Donk, I don’t think so– I was thinking a review of the opening when it opens. I got wind of a change in ownership since it was last discussed on the site, but I have no confirmation.
a birdie told me they were hoping for a soft launch this week.
At least, I think that’s what the birdie said, through the haze of beer, scotch and Yo’s pounding beats
It’s been fun to walk by and try to peek through the paper they have up to cover the windows.
What and where is The Box?
It’s where Atomic was, and it will be noodlicious.
Man, this town just can’t enough of noodling on the downtown mall.
i’m seeing lysistrata tomorrow. if nobody else has something genius to say before i have time to write something up on saturday, i’ll send you my thoughts.

I haven’t seen the inside of The Box in the last few weeks, but they gutted Atomic pretty well. I’ll try to find out what the word is on a launch date. I’ll be there at the opening for sure.
And trillian; Lysistrata will probably be pretty funny. I can only imagine the Live Arts spin on a story that was funny even back in 9th grade.
oh yes, there a phalluses strewn all over the building. it’s definitely comical.

Will the Box operate as a music venue like Atomic used to?
Word just in from another little birdie: Rocky Top may not be around forever. Go climb some walls, people!

(I also think Rocky Top is right up there in university fight songs with Notre Dame. No offense UVA, but Auld Lang Syne? “Not gay”? Actually I do offend on that last one.)

i don’t know enough to review the climbing scene, but rocky top as it currently exists is expected to disappear this summer. there are rumors of a group of climbers buying it and giving the place a face lift.
