Well everyone probably has Valentine’s Day plans, but in case you don’t here are some suggestions.
Me, I’ll probably just sit at home alone, think of new posts to write for cVillain and hope that everyone is having a good time. I didn’t really have a theme for these suggestions and I was trying to find singles non-lovey dovey stuff, but it’s hard. Charlottesville, your money is spent in couples on the 14th. It’s cool.
Anyway, here THREE events that caught my eye as well as THREE homemade solutions. If you are lazy, you will do a non-homemade solution, if you want serious plus points, do it homemade. Everything is local. Let me know what you think of the homemade ones and suggest your own!
Non-Homemade Solutions
Valentine’s Day party @ Crush with Ecco Italy. While it may be overly romantic and imbibe you with too much sex appeal, this event should be fantastic. [Crush on You]
Michael’s Bistro does a Belgium Beer tasting at Satellite. I love Belgium beer and this could be pretty exciting, but at Satellite? I’m not sure. [awesome]
and… finally, knocking boots at R2 for you crazy visualization loving, dancing, DJ worshipping lovers.
My Homemade Solutions (less money, easy, more meaningful and let’s you focus on each other, not the place):
1. Cheese plate from Feast with Cupcakes or Chocolate and your favorite wine. Ladies and Gentlemen, GET YOUR CHOCOLATE TODAY, because V-Day is one of Gearhart’s busiest days of the year. I recommend the super dark chocolate. It’s more sensual. Music pairing: The Postal Service - Give Up.
2. Cream of Tomato Soup with Pancetta (easy as pie, guys), toasted bread from Albemarle Baking and Pumpkin Amaretto gelato from Milano. Maybe throw in a small apple walnut salad and pair with a Pinot Noir. Music Paring: Aretha Franklin - I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You.
3. Tilapia or Halibut from Seafood @ West Main (easy on the seasoning, grill or bake). Finish with fresh lime and you have fish for tacos. Get some small flour tacos and make Fresh Salsa and Fresh Guac. This one is impressive and, again, very easy. Make fresh margaritas. My recipe: 1 part white tequila, 1 part cointreau, 1/2 part fresh lime juice, 1 part OJ, splash of lemonade mix to desired sweetness, ice, salt rims, shake like a mofo. For dessert, any molten chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Music pairing: Maná - Amar Es Combatir.

Awww. Does Gearhart take pre-orders? (This is for me btw.)
my homemade solution, judging by my netflix queue, is either an evening with Russell Crowe (3:10 to Yuma) or Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix. And, likely, some scotch and chinese food.
that’s how I roll, baby
nice. i listen to techno and snort laopola (it’s drug so exclusive you’ve never heard of it)
laopola is so 2007. and oy, i may be vying for the same netflix.
however, i will be sleeping on my couch, as my friends are visiting and between them and their kid, i just don’t have another bed…
so it’ll be me, on the couch, with harry or russel.(russel’s hotter-hope i am that lucky;)).
I may watch some flix on the net, but they wont come in my mailbox.
Ah, who am I kidding, perfect holiday for flat on back on floor ceiling fan hypnosis session. Its my calgon.
Yes, Gearhart takes orders. Mine is in.
You ato try an Anti-valentines day . Has just as much meaning as the other if not more. You get to take your best friend out on the town and make fun of everyone else force to show there affection for one and another. Why limit your self to only one day?
Is anyone gonna actually gonna try one of my ideas?
That would require someone to try one with, so no. But thanks anyway.
Sorry, Thor. I had something else cooked up already, despite being vehemently against the Valentine’s-Day-industrial complex.
But thanks for the suggestions.
i’ll be ignoring it as much as possible. but i might cut-out hearts with my BF’s visiting two year old. we cut out spiders and witches when i was at their house last halloween.

[…] Gearhart’s Chocolates: a small table on the wall to the left of the main display case usually has pieces of their solid chocolate bars for sample. By pieces I mean chocolate chip size samples. But if any of you have had Gearhart’s, one little morsel is usually enough to satisfy a craving. This week they have their “Maya” bar for sampling […]
