Charlottesville has one of those big festivals coming up that you probably know as the “Virginia Festival of the Book.” We like to think of it as more of a rave for smart people. It happens from March 26th to 30th, 2008.
Looking through the participants makes me realize that I am completely unaware of the 99% of the 250 participants. This only verifies what I already knew. I don’t read books.
Maybe you do and maybe this is a good opportunity for our cVillains to start their book club that was mentioned a while ago. Anyway, check out the festival and let us know what smart people should know.
Do you read anything?
Key headliners include:
Mike Farrell (MASH Actor)
Walter Mosley (wrote Devil in a Blue Dress)
Roger Mudd (Emmy winning journalist & anchor)

Book club book club book club!!!
I know Maude mentioned once that she’s been a part of one before, and I arbitrarily tasked HD with starting this one, but I’m going to do some quick research (re: googling) over the weekend and then I propose we start with a book from the Festival just to get the ball rolling and maybe aim to have our first meeting at least a week before the festival so we can decide if the piece is worthy of attending any of the author’s speaking engagements. Anyone interested?
Organizational meeting at Boheme for high tea?
Now here’s a book title you don’t come across every day, “Evil Genes: Why Rome Fell, Hitler Rose, Enron Failed and My Sister Stole My Mother’s Boyfriend.”
Still browsing the listings instead of working….
ok, smart people should know that Greg Mortensen is coming to Charlottesville for Festival of the Book…He wrote Three cups of Tea…a story that makes you want to give it all away to help out the cause. He inspires anyone who reads the book to see “what one person can do to change to world”…(Guys, it doesn’t have to be Obama…it could be you!)

Ohhhh, there is an Introduction to Tantra talk. Even better, the next day there is a workshop. Which one of you lovely ladies would like to make like Sting and get tantric with me?
Cue the juke box: “So lonely! So lonely!”
Don’t miss John Semonche talking about his book “Censoring Sex”.
Lys: yes, book club! Let’s get that going, although I think we should take the reigns from doof, he’s clearly not making it happen, what with all the losing track of his own screnname and what not. ooooooooooooohhhhhhhh.
reigns??? man, I’m barely literate these days.
Heck, I’ll book club.
I have my username back and would like to join this ‘book-club’ of yours… that is if you’ll have me..
as long as it doesn’t get all cliquey
Well, doof can be the anti-clique.
I just want to throw out. I’m going to start a virtual blog, and I’d like to interview everyone who posts here. check it and let me know when your available.
/whatthehellisavirtualblog,- that means itsallinmehead.
damn, i only do cliquey book clubs. Oh well, there’s always cliquester tea.
I’m not sure I qualify as a cliquester. Are there rules?
Secondly, That “bird” at least ought to be a link to the creators website.
