This was the kind of morning where I had to do the wake-up damage assessment. I feel how gnarly my hair is to find out if I took a drunk shower. I check the kitchen trash can to see what my drunk meal was. I open my phone and go to my text outbox. I log in to Facebook and select “Sent messages.” (The problem is that I’m getting too responsible. I haven’t had a “Sweet baby Jesus, NO!” moment in way too long.)
I kept saying last night would be really fun out, and I was so right! I feel really smart. Even though my head hurts. So much!
Tim Lappa and Eric Payne are the masterminds behind Saxx. Basically, they rented the place and threw a huge party. I thought it was The Shit. When I walked in, some older couples were tearing up the dance floor. (Think silk pants suits.) They were adorable. What did DJ Payne do? He gave them some Sexual Healing and Hot Chocolate. Guy could have been a d-bag and forced Top 40 on them, but he didn’t. He shimmied across the dance floor and joined them. They were loving it, and so was I! The crowd (and hence the music) skewed young after about 11. I thought it was impressive to see the guys greet and thank everyone who came for being there. Classy. And so much love to nay nay for her love potion of champagne, blueberry vodka, and pom juice. I can practically still taste it. I’m probably not imagining that. Hmm.
The WTF award of the night goes to Dust. A guy was sweeping the stoop at 1:30am and there was no sign of life besides.
I need dispatches from the corner, R2, and Mono Loco. Please take five minutes to tell the world how they were. It’s Friday. What are you doing, working?

champagne, blueberry vodka, and pom juice.
I swear I thought that said PORN juice. Had to read it three times.
Golds Gym was the spot to be at. There was a whopping 7 people there. Like I said before, Saxx was sweet. Mellow Mushroom was alright…lots of cool and attractive people, but kind of boring and subdued compared to years past.
i love the WTF award! i keep a stash in my pocket so i can pop people on the head with them when they do something WTF-ish. which is all the time.
WTF, parlie. WTF.
This is so awesome, because I love it when my posts are ignored.
Bawling into a box of Kleenex.
That is so bratty of me, isn’t it?
Belmont yo VD report: The ceiling in my bedroom is still that almost black eggplant color.
/good times.
ThatGrrl VD report: Still don’t have it.
Beer Run surprisingly busy, right after work. Had a couple of Jefferson bourbon barrel aged stout, while ThatBoy took on the Starr Hill Love (festive!). BBQ takeout from Belmont BBQ, where they kindly threw in 2 very nice pieces of chocolate with our order. Not Gearhart’s, but very good stuff, nonetheless, and a nice surprise. Viewing of “Cruel Intentions” on DVD. Perfect movie for VDay!
Now at work. Already planning my next cocktail. It’s that kind of place.
I can only speak to Mas, Enoteca, and the highlight of the night for me, the Tea Bazaar.
Mas was VERY crowded early but thinned out by the time I was done with dinner. Food was outstanding as always.
Enoteca had Andy Thacker playing mando (just a duo this time) and he and the guitar player were tearing it up, although un-miked, in the window area. Lots of folks toward the back.
Twisted Branch blew up. Don’t know who the DJ was, but he was mixing oldies with some of the sickest beats ever out of his laptop. Young mastermind just sat there and it was all very original…Chameleon teases, all kinds of syncopation, and like I said before, some sweet oldies. There wasn’t much of a crowd, which meant a TON of dancing space and epic utilization of the ceiling gymnastic rings for some sickeningly inspired dance moves. I woke up naked this morning with one of their red decorative ribbons around my neck like a scarf. Must have been twisted on during the dancepartycraziness. Great night but rough morning…
icenine, that sounds amazing. Please, please, please tell us about their next party.
(Before their next party.)
Yeah lilith, I saw it on either the Hook’s or C-Ville’s online calendar, can’t remember which. The rings were amazing…lots of cool moves by both real and wannabe gymnasts, and always on the beat, even from the wannabes (read: me). Wasn’t a huge crowd, but the energy was SUPER high. Mucho potential for future dance party events there.
@1 doof, I read Porn juice too.
@1&12 - Me too! I hate to think - ewe! GROSS!
/think nice thoughts now
Does anyone have a report on the “soft opening” of the Box?
I’m sure Floozy does.
the Box is looking super hot… just sayin’.
