Weekend Preview of Awesomeness

Ooo lala, without Kiki and on a search for a better cocktail, I may be exploring new places. I’ve compiled a list for all my loved cVillains of the best things to do in town. If you don’t like it, let me know. If you you think I forgot something, let us know in the comments.  Anyway, click through to see what’s happening.

BOOZIN’ 4 A CRUZIN’:

Besides my search for something better, here are some events that will tickle your fancy:

One of our fellow cVillains will be pouring in the tasting room at Veritas on Sunday.

Expect the hotness to happen at Maya and Bang.

MUSAK:

Friday 7:30PM @ Gravity - Wiyos, hillbilly swing?

Saturday 7:30PM @ Gravity - Luminescent Orhcestrii, Appalachian and Gypsy tunes

Friday @ Satellite - Jim Waive CD Release Party. Read Cripsy’s review here!

Saturday @ Satellite - C-Fest

Saturday 8PM @ The Paramount - Blues with Taj Mahal. Sounds awesome to me. Make sure you sneak in your booze.

BAG O’ GOODIES

8PM @ Live Arts - Lysistrata. Read our review here.

Want to Pimp a Dancer? UVA’s Ballroom dancing folks are selling themselves to raise money. Deets here.

Pimp a ballroom dancer… sounds like a high-brow escort service to me. Yes please.

Pimping a dancer sounds like it should involve a Bedazzler. And lots of glitter.

    Jeremy Fisher
    Jim Bianco
    Brooke Waggoner
    Hoots & Hellmouth

I don’t know much about any of the bands, but free live music and an “excuse” to booze on Sunday…could be fun

somebody this morning told me that a band i like is playing at maya. i forgot what band, or who told me, but for what it’s worth, i am a notoriously unreliable source of information.

    i hope that was helpful.

Actually “The Band Parlie Likes” might work as a band name.

/still not as good as “Jehova’s Rifle Cream”.

All I know is I’d like a backing band called “The Side Boobs.”

Free Beer was a west coast punk band in the early eighties. Bass player was original Powell skater Stevie Cabellero. Trivia.

Best band name that was an actual band? JFKFC.

  31. 15 Feb 2008 at 7:51 pmcaroline said:

You mean the Hackensaw Boys cover band? I think there is only one original member left. The real Hackensaw Boys: Tom Peloso, David Sickmen, Bobby St. Ours

  32. 15 Feb 2008 at 7:53 pmhipster-doofus said:

How many originals were still around for the New Years show, or was that a reunion show? I remember seeing them when there were like 12 of them on stage.

  33. 15 Feb 2008 at 7:53 pmcaroline said:

the boys who still insist on calling themselves the Hackensaw Boys are booked in Atlanta tonight.

  39. 15 Feb 2008 at 8:04 pmcaroline said:

  40. 15 Feb 2008 at 8:09 pmhipster-doofus said:

I’m certainly not lilith, or did you mean is she going? Sadly I have to work tonight. But I did see Jim Waive, etc. recently with nanigans, 2o4, and dijonbray at the tea-house..

Street: members of the Hackensaw Boys played at Dust’s prom last night, I think. Are you mixing up your dates?

  43. 15 Feb 2008 at 8:32 pmStreet said:

It’s definitely pissible. In fact, I have been whisked away to another party, and this one has booty-shaking madness on the menu. I think I’ll be having seconds tonight. Our(whoever that might be) first meeting will have to wait.

    ….um…”possible”, not “pissible”. :P

Oooh, I would so be at Zinc if I didn’t have to work. That place is my home away from home. En francais.
