Nice weather made everyone giddy like a schoolchild.
South Street - Party of Sausage, awesome if you are into that. Did anyone notice the two Christmas tree colored beauties at the bar earlier on in the night? All I can say is WOW.
Zo Ca Lo - What is this like the new hipster bar or something like that? It totally is. Rich hipsters, for serious. Word on the street is their short rib special was nothing short of amazing.
Blue Light - Same old. Crowded, little rednecky, fun.
Escafe - Seemed a little slow to me. The music was friggin’ awesome.

Damn! I knew I should have spent my evening at South Street! Mmmmm…beer and men, my favorite Friday night entertainment.
Christmas-colored beauties? Were they pine trees?
i did not notice them in the 7:30 - 9:00 slot
OXO had DJ Toolshed spinning last night. He’s a technical dj, he doesn’t just set a playlist and let it go, though not in the mash-up style of XSV, more like sometimes-subtle sometimes-bold overlays of songs. Early on I wasn’t too impressed as very few were dancing (the OXO dance crowd isn’t the most adventurous group..), but people drank enough and he settled in and spun a great last hour, winning me over as a fan. He’s something a little different, and I definitely recommend checking him out next time. Good size crowd last night too.
Anybody catch Jim Waive last night and want to report in?
A little slow? Man. Slowest friday in ages. Stood up there thinking I was wearing my fonzi jacket and water skis. Lately, though wednesdays have been way busier than fridays. Less competition, I guess. Thanks for the compliments on the tunes Thor, but truthfully, I have been sick for so long (better now, I think) that its been hard fro me to keep up and bring in some new stuff, so I was playing through some old mystery songs that Ive had laying around. Had some rough patches for sure. I roll with it though.
March will be my 2 year anniversary there, way back before every bar decided to jump on the dj bandwagon, and we have weathered slow spots/nights before. Still, the fonzi jacket will be awfully warm come spring. Sigh.
Apparently the owner of escafé was interviewed on NBC 29 news at 11 regarding our little noise ordinance debate with CPD that almost landed your friendly neighborhood dj in cuffs a couple weeks back. Anyone catch that? I wrote a piece about the ongoing confusion, but didn’t submit it, fearing it would make my situation worse. But hell, if he’s going on tv, maybe I will send it in. Anyone interested in the police incident?
I AM I AM I AM!
here’s where you can read the nbc 29 piece, an i believe a link to video

Moved to a full post here.
I suggest moving this to the front page, Thor. But you’re probably already working on it…
Thor, colfer’s comment should just be a post. Come on get on top of things-I mean you are the god of thunder.

What about C-Fest tonight at Satellite? “A gathering of Charlottesville’s best original ambient, experimental, & jazz groups.” Is it going to be annoying or good? I’m serious, I have no idea.

The ring of gold spray paint around his face, is probably why huffmaster Thor doesn’t get served at Mas. Perhaps if it was a ring of white powder— Oh never mind

if you start bringing logic into debates, the internet will collapse upon itself into a singularity that will engulf the universe.
bad girl! go lie down!
oh shit, sorry oy, you are so right…
someone welcome me to the internet.
“a singularity engulfing the universe” actually sounds kind of peaceful. i’ll take some of that.

Valentine’s was two days ago - get over it.
@15-
a hush fell over the crowd, waiting for your tale of what was apparently an attempt to overthrow the government (by sanctioned and encouraged audibilizing of music-while hose naugty folk were gyrating!!!the audacity!!!)
so give the story already!!!
it’s sunday and monday is a holiday!
we’re waiting…
those- hello, god- the quotes were cool, but i’d consider tithing if there was simply an edit feature…
hey- i was, as i have said, and could be infered by the time stamp, happily cheerleading away drunkenly with@29…
i hope i didn’t come across sarcastically. i think a lot of folks like your stories, Belmont, yo-i do, and also, i think those who post have a voice and by some would be considered a bit over the top. i realize i’m new here. just wanted to tell you i was cheerleading, not being sarcastic or discouraging at all. also, reading your posts- i understand you feel you may not be able to post (details causing further problems), and that’s cool, too.
but let us know if there is any way we can support you in what seems to be a ridiculous assault on the downtown music scene… in the fabled words of the Beastie Boys:”you gotta fight for your right to par-tay!!!”
but no one ever said you had to do it alone.
/signing off to dance in front of the “man”, yeah!
