Total Eclipse of the Moon Feb 20 2008

total lunar eclipse charlottesville

You heard it here first folks.

There will be a total eclipse of the moon tomorrow (Feb 20th, 2008) at night. What this means is you must immediately start praying to your god of choice and ask him to bring back the moon. This typically works, but every now and then if you don’t pray hard enough you will be punished by 10 years of moonlessness. It’s a tough world, I know.

Anyway, you need to get outside around 10PM to watch this thing. Does anyone know if O-Hill is doing something special tomorrow night? Detailed information and an instructional picture after the break…

For you Charlottesville watchers:
Partial Eclipse Begins: 08:43 pm
Total Eclipse Begins: 10:01 pm
Mid-Eclipse: 10:26 pm
Total Eclipse Ends: 10:51 pm

Partial Eclipse Ends: 12:09 am

10 years of moonlessness? Inconcievable! What will I bay at now? I’ve noticed the police don’t like it if I bay at them… I must appease [insert random deity here]! I will hork 10 space bags and moon the moon from the top of the Jefferson Theater if I must! (I promise not to attempt to comment here afterwards)

i have a feeling that at 21 degrees, if something’s falling from the sky (other than disabled, poisonous satellites), it’s going to be frozen and painful, and probably not white, but probably not wet either.

I am really surprised that that song has not been disco-fied by some enterprising young remixer. Hmm, perhaps I should go a’ hunting on the tubes….

Tommy D., I’d watch it from my back deck, but I don’t think you’re gonna see much through the snow tonight. So, I’ll probably bottle some beer instead.

    set to bonnie tyler:
hum total eclpise of the heart.(when you hear “turn around,”= “look up at,”)

    look up at, the moon
    look up at ,the sky
look up at, the moon-tonight it’s full and shines so very bright.
look up at, the sky-would you like to go for a walk downtown and get everyone here another round?
look up at, at the moon-it’s c-villains on the mall without pants infront of the Hook’s camera!
look up at the sky-it is a little before 10:30 and the sky appears to be clear!
(repeat as it speaks to you)…

look up to the moon! everynow and then light turns to dark.
look up to the sky! every now and then dark turns to light.

and the moon is full tonight!
and the moon, it is in Virgo!
and we can dance in pale moonlight!
take a chance it’s now or never!
    wait-what happened to the light?!
is this some freaky anomalous weather?
could it be I’ve had too much wine?
above the moon is like a shadow in me all of the time…
i don’t know what to do, i’m suddenely in the dark…
did this happen to Noah when he was on the ark?
    a lunar eclipse tonight!
the world will be in dark tonight.
we will be in dark tonight.

once upon a time the moon was glowing above.
now the sky is suddenly dark.
    nothing we can do,
a total eclipse of the moon.
once upon a time there was light up above-
“but now there’s only love in the dark”
    nothing but to swoon-
    totaly eclipse of the moon.

…look up at the sky/total eclpise of the moon/look up at the sky/total eclpise of the moon/look up at THE sky/the sun moved away from the moon…..

    okay, your turn, bright eyes;)
