Ah, the last week to feel winters wrath. I’m glad it’s gone. It sure did get cold last week; down to the teens! I digress.
Last week we reached a new monthly record. At the end of February, despite being a short month, we had over 10,000 absolutely unique visitors and 140,000 page views! Between working an extra day (because God forgot it) and our heated debate over spamming, things were mighty fun this week. I think everyone was pissed that we have to keep waiting for spring to show her sexy little legs.
We sacrificed Tofu to the spring gods in hopes that spring would come faster.
We started some new things this week. Lilith began her “bite me” series with useless flaunt-able truffle knowledge. Given the fears of the local media and government, we also introduced an “Armageddon” series; this week it was local real estate. We bust out an all time record post discussing the Van Halen cancellation; various news outlets pick it up around the country.
TwoOFour gives us a deep look at child trafficking. We go for lighter fair, between pink balls, gossip websites ruining UVA, and everyone’s favorite weird foods, it was a serious and playful week.
To make things more playful we decide to throw a St. Patty’s Day Pub Crawl. You NEED TO GET TICKETS.. all proceeds go to charity.
There was lots of stuff happening on the internets. One of our brethren, StreakTheLawn shut down. We cried. Then, we noticed that cvillenews berated X-Lounge for “spamming.” People got heated in that discussion! Rightly so, but we told you guys it wasn’t really news in the first place
In other discussions we ask you what the limitations are for gossiping. We decided that personal mentions are ok, so long as the persons are in the public light, restaurant reviews are ok anywhere from 1 to several visits and that racist jokes weren’t permitted.
Don’t forget about your weekend; special thanks to Boheme for sticking a “Lilith” cocktail on the menu. Also, did anyone check out the disappearing Skate park?
As for businesses, we thought La Taza was sold, but the owner let us know that she was considering a sale. We learned that Satellite Ballroom will die, and CVS will return in its place.

oh god, DO NOT START THAT!!!
grape, you’re better than that. the internet is not a toy.
thank you, you just made my day by knowing what that means
Thanks for that reminder, Parlie. You can never say it too often: The internet is NOT a toy.
A gun, on the hand, now that’s a fun toy … as are matches … and if all else fails, just play in traffic.
another thing that is not a toy:
vodka is not a toy.
Very true. Vodka is an evil elixir, served only to one’s most loathed enemies.
Bourbon, on the other hand, is a toy. After all, it’s so fun!
