Won’t You Ease My Worried Mind…

polygamy.gifThis is awkward. The other day when I introduced myself, you may not have been able to tell, but I was full of shit. Almost nothing I said was true, and it almost never is. It can sound true, sure, and I may even think it’s true in my own mind, but more than likely anything I’m saying is at the very least exaggerated, if not an outright fabrication.

So it’s awkward, then, to be put in the position I am now. I stand… I type before you all to introduce to you a great electronic internet friend of mine, Layla. Layla comes to us from a small village high in the Wasatch mountain range of Utah. She is a polygamist who shares a husband with 12 other good women, and is an expert on mending socks, playing checkers (Chinese and regular), and making fine broths (both meat and vegetable). Layla is mother to 14 children, and grandmother to 65. She recently relocated to Charlottesville to help her husband pursue a career in blacksmithing, and is looking forward to her 24th birthday!

You see, none of that was true. The real truth is, I’m never going to tell you who Layla is. And she’s probably not going to either. But for better or worse, for anonymity or celebrity, Layla comes to us with a promise to provide a breath of fresh air to the website and its forums. She carries with her an outlook to counter the cynics, Southern charm to melt the cold of heart, and a ferocious verbosity to spin a wind of words through your head, and maybe even inspire spontaneous outbursts of song.

Look for her first post later this morning, and join me in welcoming Layla to cVillain.

It’s hard to laugh with the thought of rampant shooters out there, but that just made me laugh nonetheless. Ahh, you.

Ah! That “ferocious verbosity to spin a wind of words through your head” image is so Albert Einstein-ish. Well written!
