Hey, I just heard that Will Shortz will be in town tomorrow, speaking at U.Va, where he attended law school. Nerdy!

Radio IQ is also reporting that Shortz will be available for chatting downtown at the Mudhouse from ~2:30-4pm (I can’t seem to find confirmation online; what gives Radio IQ?). Alas, I have to work. But someone should go and dare him to put “perspicaciousness” into his next puzzle. Or just shake his hand. Seems like a nifty fellow.

    ah, I loved Wordplay and was considering going in to say hi just based on that. But what would I really say? “hi Will Shortz, I’m not smart enough to finish a Tuesday by myself.”

    If anyone has more info about the Mudhouse thing, please do post. I love, love, love Will and Wordplay and the NYT puzzle and would love to chat with him. Or just see him in person. Yes, I got over my fangirl-ishness for rock stars years ago but am more than happy to be a fangirl for the Editor of the NYT Crossword!

    I, too, am a crossword fanatic, and there is a special place in my heart for the NYT puzzle, which becomes more difficult as the week progresses. I started in the days of Eugene T. Maleska, and have continued my obsession during Will’s tenure. I would love to meet him, but I honestly don’t know what I would say to the man, besides “Thank You”.
