$59 Million Government Facility to House 1,000 Jobs North of Charlottesville

Government Facility CharlottesvilleRecently a Chicago contractor was awarded with a $58.5 million dollar contact to build a 46 acre facility for a “Joint-Use Intelligence Analysis Facility” slightly north of Charlottesville. The facility will house over 1,000 jobs and is expected to bring a total of 1,500 jobs to the area by its expected completion date in 2010.

The Daily Progress reports that the facility will be located slightly north of the CHO airport and across 29. This sounds great, but what about traffic? 29N traffic is already a nightmare.

Maybe relatively, but seriously… nightmare? Try DC, SF bay area, etc. I find myself getting stuck in the 5 minute backup on West Main at 5 and getting all frustrated, but then I remember… this is Fischer Price traffic compared to some.

And I am glad the NSA is bringing part of their operation to the area. I, as a patriotic ‘merkan, can just drop off my cell phone and email records in the night drop slot, thus saving them money “The War on Terra” (T.W.A.T.).

/why do they hate our freedoms?

They will be going against normal flow of traffic. Just like the GE Fanuc and Automation employees, they won’t have a hard time going to and from work because morning traffic is coming into C’Ville while they’re headed away and vice versa for the afternoon.

Anyway I graduated from high school at sixteen. When to a college did poorly, then moved with my fiancée to the Netherlands.
We spend several years in Europe. Married at 21, traveled much more.
BYo, you will slay me on this but I LOVE Vermeer. Also I am a fan of the School of Paris 30s- mid 60s. My son has turned me
on to pop art, some of which I find amazing, more less amazing.
Strange as it sounds, I adore landscapes from the mid to late 18th century. No cows involved. My favorites are what my kids have painted
over the years, they are framed beautiful and their pieces are my most beloved. I have in house artists though their art is becoming more collectable
as they have found better things to spend their time rather than painting.

My son, whenever DT goes to the Sage Gallery, every once in a while he needs me to buy him a painting.

Let’s talk some art, guys. Thor could make an art thingy? PLEASE

not to dwell on the post or anything, but my buddy Thor doth maketh a good point with regards to traffic on 29…when you remember that the plans are in the works to build Albemarle Place at the intersection of 29 and Hydraulic within roughly the same time frame, and re-locate Whole Foods to that area of the grid as well. @2, while I completely agree that we cvillains are quick to become entitled with regards to most things in our fair city, it is worth considering that the reason that most people move here/stay here, is to experience something resembling a small town, no matter how big we get for the old britches. The good news is, I really only have to go up 29 about once every 3-4 months so hopefully I won’t feel the squeeze, but I also remember when they widened the roads years ago and all cars around town were festooned with bumper stickers declaring, Sorry I’m Late, I had to take 29 Business, or something to that effect. I predict that soon 8 lanes will not be enough and that the real pain will be felt when they start tacking on more road.

Also, B Yo, if you want, I’m working on soome pretty rightwous paint-by-number pieces right now that I would love to get some creative imput on. ;-)

Tuesday is now my favorite day of the week? I did get up on the right side of the meeting:)

I go up 29 once a month, facial. Thank goodness they are moving to a diff building. For me, 29 and all that is there seems to be a completely separate world. When driving to DC, I am amazed at all there. (IMO)
seems to be a pretty wide divide in C’ville. Melting Pot may change that. Never been there or to Target. Maybe people who live there, stay there. Lets suggest a road simply for the airport, like a Jetson trick! Wonder
if most of the Forest Lake folks etc, work close to home? I’ve never been able to figure how it became so
popular buy it sure did. Wonder if Crozet is going to keep the heat off Ivy and Greenwood. 29 south is unscathed, wonder why? Its so beautiful, hopefully will stay that way. Free Union? So far so good. Seeing a pattern but will it stray? Does anyone know zoning? I ask for selfish reasons!

Now I am totally confused Jim. Stayed up too late last night. Is this good or bad? Will it take forty or more years? If this plan works I wish the focus would be on progressive house building. More earth protecting houses,
less costly due to more “green” (lack of better word) planning. Not to cut on those houses but in several years they may be really rough.I see a huge lack of creativity of these planned communities.Surely it is as simply those
houses are what people want.My taste has completely circled. I love the brick ranchers and see so much potential where once I saw none. What about concrete houses, okay now I am off so I’d better stop! I LOVE
real estate. It seems since the land is lovely, what about incorporating the houses into the land( think NM) not
poking up look a candy cane that grew over night.

Re read Jim and see there never was a good and bad.
Seems that Charlottesville and Albemarle will have several town centers, while take awhile.
That should save the DT, even Barracks etc from bursting. Also will contain Ch’ville to a not so large town/city.
I think it sounds like a great plan for more than selfish reasons. thanks Unless mistaken we are both saying the same thing.

I had a contract with an agent in Austin for years. Made a lot of art, made some money, shows in NY, all kinds of glam shit I never thought possible. My agent started moving toward the “corporate art” side of things, you know, the mild pieces of flotsam that hang behind the receptionist’s desk. I can do that stuff in my sleep, but where is the love? So every time I start to paint, out of my mind, naked ladies start popping out! Gah! I send him some heavily abstracted nudes… but what? A nipple? That wont hang well behind Leviacon’s front desk! So I am told not to paint nipples anymore. It is the Mason Dixon line btw me and corporate art glory…

So of course, the next and many next times I pick up a brush its nothing but lovely naked women, the censored has become mandatory in my twisted little bean shaped mind. On and on it goes, and I can’t meet my quota of “objects de arte” because everything I paint has lovely breasticles. So now I am poor in belmont, but the velvet closet is lined with beautiful naked women. One day, I will be impotent, and you curvy succubi will no longer hold the truck that you still do. Then I will be able to pick up a brush and address the issues I feel need to be expressed. Until then Im wanking and writing a collection of essays. It aint much, but its what I got.

What the fuck kind of post was this? I have no idea.

    /sorry. been drinkin.
