Week in Review: 4/7/2008 to 4/13/2008

As we near our one year anniversary, we woke up to a wonderful surprise: cVillain’s own Lys and Wingnuts are having babies. Between spring fever, boring bachelorette parties and vegetarian love, it’s a good week to read over. Don’t forget our must reads on being single, Charlottesville’s secret spots and the DMV!

Food and Drink

We got the first pictures of The Upstairs, Charlottesville’s upcoming steak place. As a result of a lengthy discussion about Craigslist elite anti-meat eaters, we ran a poll and discovered that about 20% of you are vegetarians (which is over 4x the national average). Oh, and don’t forget our review of South Street on Tuesday nights as well as our run in with boring bachelorette parties. Don’t forget your cigars.

News Stuff

Everyone has seen the demolition of the building on the downtown mall, but not everyone probably knew about flying chunks of concrete. We also ran for cover from an increase in the central Virginia homeless population. Call the Ghost Busters! Outside of Charlottesville, we covered some crazy news: (1) New Kids on the Block are reforming, and (2) facebook sex groups. You take your pick of the most crazy.

We had quite an odd shooting in Charlottesville which attracted oodles of police cars. The details still don’t really make sense. Don’t forget to read about Charlottesville based McDonough’s feature in Vanity Fair magazine. Finally, we are still learning our internet safety lessons which are now required by Virginia.

Thomas Jefferson

We had two very relevant events to Thomas Jefferson this weekend. First of all, we took a long look at the Cavalier Daily and its muzzle award. Also, we learned that Associate Justice Scalia came to the UVA law school and explained that the constitution goes overboard when it prohibits the use of God in various formal situations.

What Not to Miss

If you missed the entire week, I would highly recommend you read the following articles and the commentary:

Now, start a new week!
