NEW UPDATES…

On 4-15-2008, the Charlottesville Police Department took a report of a missing juvenile. Her name is Lorena Sanchez-Toledo, a twelve year old Latino female of Charlottesville. Lorena came home from school on April the 15th, but left again, and her parents have not seen her since. She was last seen near her home in the Meadows Neighborhood of Charlottesville. Lorena has not run away before and this is unusual behavior for her. Police are concerned for her safety. Police believe it is possible that she may have left the Charlottesville area.

If you see Lorena Sanchez -Toledo, or have information about where she may be, please contact Detective Woodzell at the Charlottesville Police Department at 434-970-3280, or
434-970-3210.

UPDATE: From Silmo…and the Daily Progress (but I couldn’t find the link).
They believe she has or is leaving the Charlottesville area,” state police Sgt. Ted Jones said, referring to Charlottesville police, who could not be reached for comment.

Jones said city authorities believe Sanchez-Toledo may be with a Hispanic man named Jeremias Chagala-Mil. The 31-year-old Charlottesville man is 5 feet 4 inches and weighs 150 pounds. He may be driving a 1997 red Mitsubishi with the license plate KDW-8874.
If you see Sanchez-Toledo, call Detective Logan Woodzell at the Charlottesville Police Department at 970-3280 or 980-3210.

Thanks for posting, Thor. I was just going to suggest that it needed to be done. Between this and the art discussion on The Muse, this day is becoming quite a downer.

@3 Thor probably got this where I got it: zap email from Charlottesville government. Fascinating the things they send out. Freeze warnings and Amber Alerts. Closing government offices for TJ’s birthday. But I’m certain this was sent out in support of a larger Amber Alert.

but back when i had a land line i got a message from cpd about an escaped convict.

//kinda felt weird since i had been out of town for a week before and no one else i knew had that on their answering machine.

///he had already been cought before i got the message.?.

i hope she’s okay and with her family soon.

I know this is a little off-topic, but I have a major gripe with the C-ville email alerts. Would it kill someone to make the links in the emails actually functional? Whenever they have to send out a message, they will send you an email containing only an URL to all the actual information; no information (beyond a subject line in the email heading) is included in the email. To reach the information, you have to cut and paste the URL into a browser window, just because no one over there has figured out that you have to leave one dinky space after the URL, in order to have it act as an active link. In this day and age (and given how much money the city has paid for the new computer system, over there), you’d think that someone would have learned how to make an URL function as a link.
