Last night, around 2 am, there was this incredibly loud roar in the sky that woke me and my boyfriend up. I asked around this morning, and another friend who lives in C-Ville said the same thing. She and her boyfriend woke up to a really loud roar at 2am and were really confused. It sounded like a spaceship or a low-flying jet fighter plane, or something. Anyone know what it was?

I heard the same thing, and it was preceded by a bright flash. I assumed it was lightning and thunder, but the roar did last for about 30-45 seconds.

My brain asploded last night. Perhaps that’s what you heard.
I saw a flash of lightning and heard the standard thunder. 10 minutes later I was in the basement and heard the sound your talking about. It did last longer than thunder normally does but I just assumed it was thunder. Oddly, no more lightning or thunder during the rest of the night.
It was a thunderclap… our whole house shook and stuff fell off shelves in the bathroom. I’ll be scrubbing the skidmarks off my pj’s for a week.
Saw the lightning, heard the thunder. Around a 3 second delay between flash and boom from where I’m at (just south of C-ville). Dog jumped up and banged its head on the coffee table. Best laugh I’ve had in a while.

Thank GOD other people heard that. It scared the $%& out me. I was convinced a bomb had gone off or something. In a panic, I woke up my SO who, of course, slept through the whole thing. When after a few minutes the world didn’t seem to be coming to an end, I started to think that maybe I dreamed it…
I’ve been reading cVillain for a few weeks now and love reading the posts/comments, but have been too shy to comment til now. So thank you, cVillain for letting me know that I am not the only one who hears things that go bump in the night

Phew. Where you guys been? Me… when I heard the sound, I immediately sealed myself in my safe room with duct tape and saran wrap. I only emerged this morning because my stores of canned green beans ran out.
So it wasn’t terrissss?
2 days in a hermetically sealed safe room on a diet of green beans… did you emerge or did you light a ciggy and blow the walls out?

I saw a flash of what I assumed was lightening from inside Live Arts and ran to the outside stairwell to listen to the noise. I thought it was thunder, but I guess it’s a bit weird that was the only time I heard it all evening. Hmmmm….
