Seven Deadliest Sins…of Smoking

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mlinksva/411814303/Thor’s nicotine dependence post a couple of weeks ago came at just the right time. I happened to witness one of the dangerous side effects of smoking. A girl was driving down my street while trying to light her cigarette. She proceeded to hit my neighbor’s parked car. While I did feel bad (for my neighbor), I also laughed at her complete stupidity. I had to go to work so I am not sure if she actually admitted how she came to hit the car to my neighbor or the police.

This little incident and Thor’s article got me thinking about all the dumb things I have seen smokers do. I’m sorry, if you smoke THAT in and of itself is DUMB. I know I am going to get all the smokers on the site in a huff, but you are intentionally doing something that has killed many (I know I am not one to talk between my drinking and cell phone use). That said, I think these are the dumbest things I have witnessed smokers do:

#1-Girl attempting to light a cigarette while driving (then hitting a PARKED car).
#2-Man on an assisted breathing device (oxygen) smoking.
#3-Guy smoking while filling up gas tank…hello????!!
#4-Car with “Baby on Board” sign in window (and car seat) filled with smoke!
#5-Woman sitting with little boy making him eat all his carrots, “so he can get big and strong like his daddy,” while he breaths in the smoke from her cigarette.
#6-Woman coughing and blowing nose (has cold), then lights up cigarette.
#7-Smoking.

    I once saw a guy who had had a tracheotomy (undoubtedly as a result of smoking) sucking on a cig through the hole in his neck.
