Weekend Preview 5/2/2008 to 5/4/2008

This weekend is going to rock the shazbot… why?

shazbot

Music

Um, I can never beat Shaun to the punch.  You are going to miss a lot of sweet stuff if you don’t read his preview over at cvilleMUSE.  How do you like these apples? Van Halen (please don’t be canceled), Ryan Shaw, Birdlips and Friday’s After Five (with Eli Cook).

First Friday’s

How could you overlook Pinkie’s amazing preview on cvilleMUSE. She covers every single venue and every single artist, with links to boot!  Apparently, there will be MUSE special ops walking around handing out business cards.  Try to find them and tell them Thor sent you.

Off the Cusp

If MUSE always kicks my butt on real events at least I can find stuff off the beaten track. If you are a techno-mac-loving-uber-nerd, you should go to BeCamp, which is a part communist, part hippy part electronic festival of computers and crazy ideas like “FOAF,” “Grails,” “Parallel Computing,” “Selenium -web tier testing” and a bunch of other things that scare me.

Enjoy your weekends! What did we miss?

MUSE rulez. See y’all at First Fridays. It only takes 5 minutes between you bar hopping to pop in a nearby gallery or resto featuring art, people. Oh, and did I mention
TWO o FOUR DJing at OXO TONIGHT enough times already????

An older fairly well dressed gentleman stopped me on my walk home from OXO - right in front of McGuffey. He fed me this long story about being from town but was coming from out of town and he lived here but his car was broken down and he had to meet the tow truck at Settle Tire on Preston and he was $0.41 short of paying the guy and could I please help him out he felt like a bum and this was embarrassing gosh and he showed me his drivers license. TwoOFour, the music was bangin. Sorry I didn’t say hi. I was one of the guys standing in front of you gawking at the dance floor with my hand in my pocket and a creepy grin on my face.

cbob: thanks for the 41 cents. i bought a quarter bottle of night train, huffed some fix-a-flat, and slept in a boxcar. you’re the best.

Cbob, I got the exact same story while wandering around after Foxfield. He asked me for $6. What a strange old man.

@14 I always try to help out when I can. It was either that or a $20. If you did all that on $0.41 you’d be dead on $20, or that boxcar woulda been full of cvillains.

@16 That is bizarre. Is there a new bum in town?? Maybe he was a bum on the plush. http://www.utahphillips.org/songbook/thetwobums.html

Stanley good meeting you too in the oddest of places I never frequent.
