A guy whose entire character is based on a fake ID is going to make me not pirate DVDs?

I like internet nonsense… that’s why I saw this on Funny or Die this morning when I went looking for internet nonsense. I accept your apology about local content. Now please give local content in posts. Generally if I really like something totally silly on the interweb, I link it in a comment that is tangentially relevant or put it in the free for all. Thanks!

Let’s turn this into a local thread. Have any of you heard about the “green roof” they are installing on top of city hall?

@5 isn’t there a school here that has a green roof or is being built with a green roof?

@6: I honestly have no idea. Is that a UVa comment or are you referring to a high school?

I think the Albemarle County Office Building, which used to be Lane High School also has a similar system.

@8: You are correct, part of the roof is planted with hardy succulents. I want to have a picnic up there. It’s nice to see government embracing the energy saving and eco friendly green roof system.

I wish all the sprawly places with their flat roofs would follow suit. But then, they don’t have public works/urban planers/engineers on the payroll promoting such things. But still, the economy is tough and you can’t convince me Fashion Square Mall is doing booming business. Save some money in power bills and plant up your roof! Stop the urban heat island effect and slow global warming!

Yeah, expect to see local shopping centers embrace expensive but eco-friendly upgrades in the near future *rolls eyes*. A few months ago Barracks Road Shopping Center cut down the crepe myrtles growing in their north-wing lot and providing a required pittance of shade so they could reconfigure their lot layout slightly. Even though shade trees are required by ordinance, none were replanted and a few additional parking spaces were gained. Merchants no longer need complain that their signage is obscured by vegetation. They should have been fined and required to plant twice as many.

not saying they will, of course, just that I wish they would. And of course, if our government gets on board (as they obviously are) perhaps they’d be willing to incentivize it.
