TGIF - Your Weekend Preview

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ribboncontroller/2325227429/Yay for Friday! What a week! We told you how to donate some organs, a fire broke out, echo died, while finding new iphones we met some newbies, we discussed some teaching woes, and apparently here and there some of us worked at our places of employment.

No more work. Time to play! Get your red panties on, sit out in the sun, call your neighbors to come play, and have yourself a firecrotch:

Check out Art/Music over at MUSE.

There is of course the Crush and Wine Shop wine tastings and Beer Run will be in full force Friday night. The Photograph Festival is going on downtown. Both the Cville and Crozet farmer’s market will be open Saturday morning.

Last, I have a homework assignment for you all. I was listening to 106.1 the other day and heard about “Taste This”, which is supposed to be the new name for A Taste of Charlottesville. I heard something about a Tuesday and the Alum Hall lawn. I can find NOTHING on this. Am I losing my mind? Probably, but in the meantime do any of you know anything about this?

Have a good weekend villians! As always be sure to comment on what we may have missed!

i know shan’s might love this comment, but it comes from a good place….WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE PIG ROASTS!? I have been to a million in the past month and can’t say I am impressed with home-cooks/amateurs attempts at cooking a whole pig in a make-shift smoker. Honestly, its a waste of a pig. I have heard good things about local bbq caterers like Big Jim’s (that right?)….seriously leave it to the pro’s. Shan’s I guess this is my effective ban on pork…at least until the next catered event.

  24. 13 Jun 2008 at 10:50 amcocoNUT said:

@18 i agree….seasoning is one important part as is heat! When the skin on the outside of the pig comes out burned, you know they screwed the pooch. I know you might cringe…but the skin is a delicacy for smoked/roast meats, so it should come out edible. Meat inside is another story….

  30. 13 Jun 2008 at 10:59 amshenanigans said:

@24: Unfortunately, most dudes cooking the pigs aren’t chefs but normal dudes who feel manly cooking a big piece of meat on some fire. My own dad is guilty of this. I once dated a BBQ chef (yes we thought the irony was hilarious) and he told me a lot about cooking over certain types of wood and really slowly and all this stuff I really didn’t want to know and most pig roasters don’t seem to know either. It’s sad that people go to these fun parties and eat all this not well-cooked, not seasoned meat.

@15 del fosse did a pig roast last fall with a company from the eastern part of the state. they were awesome caterers & had this whole pig-smoker contraption & these amazing “everything” brownies. i have their flyer back in c’ville (as if i’m going to cater my own pig roast). del fosse is doing another pig roast this summer but i think they’re using a different caterer, but i’m sure they’ll be good (& professional) too.

@31 bfd. i’ve done market street alone in 10 minutes.
