Where do we list ourselves in the Yellow Pages?

yellow pages

I’m setting up a separate phone number for the Spicy Bears and the guy on the phone asks me “where do you want to be listed in the phone book?”

So, I respond and say “new media.” Apparently, that category doesn’t exist. Neither does “online publishing, digital media or internet media.”  “Websites” exists, but that doesn’t really make any sense.

So, I ask you… where on earth do I put our business and why doesn’t the Yellow Pages have a category that makes sense?

Where should we put our name in the Yellow Pages?

Depends who you think will be looking for it, right? I doubt that would be us. So, I presume you would want something like advertising, public relations, promotions.

I might do some quick informal investigation. Ask a couple of businesses if they have ever used the yellow pages to find potential advertisement venues, and ask what they looked up.

I hope Escort Services wins. With a name like Spicy Bears, you’re gonna get a lot of calls from horny hirsute homos.

Wife comes with house. This is how to advertise. Of course I’m unsure what the “carpet” reference is all about.

I agree with all who say to ask yourself “who do you want to call you?” Do you want people wanting to advertise on Cvillain to call you? Do you want people wanting you to design and/or host their website to call you? Look in the phone book…under what listing are the businesses you think are most similar to you?

Phone books are the number 1 best way to advertise your business. I would place a bet that the only place you get more business generated would be from your own websites. You’re a new business. Don’t waste money on newspapers or anything print. Don’t spend a single dime on advertising on any other website besides your own. Trade trade trade. Cvillain has given you power, so wield it.

One problem: why am I a regular and I don’t know what Spicy Bear does? Are you webmasters? Get a clearer marketing message.

    /local marketing seminar off.

My company, Yellowbook, has a heading called media brokers, we are not the telephone company though, you will appear in our book under whatever heading you chose. That is probably a telco heading though. But as a sales rep. the problems of your heading placement is negliable, if you don’t know off hand, potential customers most certainly wouldn’t know where to look in the book. And if they are already your customers they should be able to find you in the white pages. If this were all of high concern to you though, you need to do a better job of branding one business name, it all seems confusing to someone unassociated to your business. Hope this helped. Good luck.
