I’m not sure if this is something that should necessarily go on this site, but I figured it couldn’t hurt. My dog went missing yesterday. I’m not sure how she got out of the backyard, but she was seen trotting around the neighborhood between 5th and 1st just south of Elliot Ave. She’s brown with a black nose and white on her chest. She responds to “Kensie,” and doesn’t bite. She should have her collar on, which will have my phone number on it. I’ve called the SPCA and her vet, and put up fliers in the area where she was last seen. If you see her, please grab her for me, and let me know. Also, if you wouldn’t mind forwarding this on to anyone you think might be able to help, that would be great. Thanks, ‘Villains.

Call it into WTJU 91.1 FM (office line: 924-0885, or studio 924-3418 – but make sure they are not on air),as they will announce it for you. But when you get her back, just call the station to let them know.
aww Gobbler – I hope you find her. I’ll keep an eye out for her. What a cutie.
Heads up, all. I just got a call that said she was near the mall an hour ago.
run gob run !!
Heading outside to look for her, Gobster. Good luck!
I’m texting my boyfriend, who’s out walking my dog. Is there a number he should call if he spots her?
I’m constantly looking out the office window…
Call Animal Control too : 977-9041. If I weren’t in Crozet I’d be all over the mall looking for her.
My number is on the tag on her collar. She’s friendly enough, that’ll she’ll probably run right up to say hi to the other dog.
He’s back and didn’t see any loose dogs out there. I’ll take the little guy out for a walk after work and do some looking, too.
It’s hot, though. She might be hanging out somewhere resting. I bet she’ll turn up.
i went out and looked for awhile too. if i were a dog (and i am) i would go find shade in the woods next to a dirty creek, from which i would also drink.
i am confident that kensie the dog will come home soon. it’s just too damned hot today.
on my way to the library(downtown), ill keep my eyes peeled!
Aww damn I hope you find her soon! While I am not in that area too much if I am I will certainly keep an eye out and pass the word on.
Kenzie’s Journey home is complete. She was picked up by a passerby who called the number on her tag. She is currnetly on her way home. Gobbler will provide more details.
Kensie’s Fantastic Adventure is over. A concerened passer-by picked her up and called her in. She is on her way home now. Gobbler to provide mroe details.
Thanks for the update Cortez.
Thank you for the update Cortez.
good good. i had heard on the radio the other day that there’s an increase in “animal-nappings” as it is, because of tough economic times. people either taking them because they don’t have the $ for the adoption fee, or waiting until the owner offers a reward to get some free cash.
sad.
glad your dog is ok.
glad kensie is home. she looks lovey and fun. and i think this is entirely something that should go on this site.
/$.02
YAY!!
@19 I whole heartedly agree.
@18: Animal-napping? Really? That is a terrible thing to do. On my list of things I would punch someone in the face for, I think that is right below putting a roofie in someones drink.
i had a typically elaborate daydream today while I was driving (watch out people! distracted driver!) that involved me finding her, calling her over, cars swerving and crashing and then her hopping into my passenger seat where I whisked her to the safety of your ghetto neighborhood. thank god that didn’t happen and she’s actually safe.
@22: Happens to Pit Bulls all the time
Thank you, Chad Day for not mentioning the nappings before I found her.
And thanks to all the villains that kept an eye out for her.
Turns out, we were looking in the wrong place, she had wandered over towards the Stadium at JPA and Shamrock. Three really nice, late-year, UVA students found her in their backyard. They would not accept any reward offer at all. Just happy to reunite dog and owner. Karma should be nice to them.
Animal-napping? Really?
Perhaps counter-intuitive, but it’s true: parlie’s much nicer on the afternoon walk if we let him nap for a few hours after lunch.
@25: She ended up by the Stadium? Dang, that’s a bit of a hike.
princess kensie the dog returns safely to gobblington manor!
we need a town crier for stuff like this.
i bet i’d be pretty g–… oh.
@25 yeah — didn’t want to say anything until you got her and stress you out even more. my dog has gotten loose a few times, and that knot in your stomach really sucks.
yeah, when I was looking for her yesterday, I asked a lady who sits in her backyard all the time with her own dogs if she had seen her. She got all worried and was like, “that sounds exactly like the kind of dog someone would take and fight. You know there’s a buncha people over there [pointed in the direction of my house] that fight pit bulls. They’ve been known to just take other people’s dogs and fight ‘em.”
- geez, thanks lady. lemme know if you see her.
@30: So Marcus moved his brothers dog fighting empire to cville?
@31: Newsflash. There’s a culture of people who do this. Anywhere. It’s pretty disturbing. You wouldn’t believe how many Pits Animal Control used to bring us, the dog dragging a really thick heavy chain behind it.
Oh, and Pit puppies that come in with their ears mangled by someone trying to cut them. With scissors.
@32: Really? You mean it wasn’t just 1 person who was involved in dog fighting? I thought it was an isolated incident.
@31: There has been a rash of gun violence recently.
/is there an ointment for that, belmonty o?
As annoying as it was to hear, I know that lady is right. Two houses down from me are 3 dogs in cages that never get out. The owners just dump food over, cause they don’t wanna go in there, the dogs are so mean. Around the corner there are another 3 dogs tied up on thick chains. I’ve never seen it, but I’ve heard what sounds like dog fighting noises coming from that area at night. I’ve called about it, but as long as they have shelter, food and water, there’s nothing that can be done. I asked one of the other neighbors about it, and they said that a lot of people in that neighbor hood have dogs as an intruder alarm. Problem is they bark at squirrels, birds and groundhogs, too, so they start to tune it out. I know I have.
did someone say something about dong fighting?
@36: If it eases your mind at all, I don’t think dog fighting is going on in the city.
Jesus, W8, have you no shame?
@38, thanks, shen.
I’m not sure if they’re actually intentionally fighting the dogs in cages, per say. It may just be that they dogs get tangled on their chains and rough house. Who knows?
Kensie wouldn’t last 2 seconds with a real fighter dog. put a groundhog in the backyard and see what happens…
…speaking of which, I found dead #8 last night while I was checking the fence for holes. Went out this morning to find the carcass gone, but groundhog parts scattered about the yard. A foot here, hide over there. Where the carcass had once been was a dried snake skin about 5 ft long. You’d think I lived in the jungle. I’m well within the city limits.
Also I sat 20 feet from a deer in my front yard last night. She watched me drink a beer, I watched her eat my neighbors flowers. Then she ran across the road in front of Speedy Gonzales who barely didn’t kill her.
Then she ran across the road in front of Speedy Gonzales who barely didn’t kill her.
That might have been Tuesday. She hunts deer…with her car.
@39: I’m sure that’s what it is. BTW, check her feet for broken pads or cuts. That was a long walk
Gobbler, call JADE if you’re really concerned about the dog fighting. They’d be interested because of some of the connections.
I’m SO, SO glad that Kensie is home! Hooray!
Yeah, it’s kind of a good thing. Apparently, nothing else happened today. This is the only C’villain post on 9/30. Admins must have gotten out of their cages, too.
@43 I believe they were all at Willie Nelson last night and had to swing a sicky today.
Gobbler,
I’m so glad you found her!
Most excellent news, Gobbler.
So happy to hear it Gobbler
@36 How long are the dogs tethered outside? If it’s more than 10 consecutive hours, it’s a violation of a Charlottesville ordinance, and you can call Cville Animal Control on them to investigate. (I consulted on the city council committee to revise the Cville animal ordinances, and while we had hoped to shrink this time frame considerably, we felt that it was a good start, since Cville had no prior tethering ordinance.)
One of the difficulties with holding people accountable to animal abuse laws is that it often requires citizen complaint in order to bring the situation to the attention of officers.
* Really glad to hear Kensie’s home safe. I have been in that situation before, several times, and it is the worst feeling in the world…It’s also heartwarming (awwww) to see so many people on this site respond so quickly and vigilantly.
i hope everybody is over the idea that 26 world is the same person as parlie. by now.
because let’s be honest … ^ ^
I’m almost over it.
/parlie hates puppies, y’all.
The weirdest thing is that in Soviet Russia, puppies don’t hate parlie. Like, not at all. But it’s still extremely weird.
in soviet cuba, stanley eats weird puppies.
/hi everyone! it’s late at night!
Well, my dog is part German – the shepard part anyway, and she really likes parlie. it might be because his feet smell like dead groundhog all the time.
/just sayin’
@48 26 world…. enlightenment at last. That explains the mystery of all the pissed off looking dogs standing at the back windows of their homes, tapping at their imaginary Rolex’s and then holding up their paws mouthing “Hey… It’s been 10 hours you shower of bastards…. Jeopardy starts in a few minutes AND I want to rub my itchy ass on that new beige Berber.”
I e-crush Flooze.
So glad to hear the pup made it home safely. Also, seems like this is an entirely appropriate and damned neighborly use of this site, by the way.
As long as it’s self-righteous and defensive! Congrats on finding your pup, glad about that.
In the spirit of Echo’s comment in the pictures from the party post, but without the photo: Gobbler, there are still missing dog signs posted in my neighborhood. If I remember as I go driving past, I’ll either scribble found on them or just take them down.
