Lindsay Shoop

The US women’s eight won a gold medal, the first time since 1984!  Lindsay Shoop, who was on the winning team, grew up in Charlottesville and attended UVa. Respect!

I remember watching her play HS hoops, all length and strength that she had not gotten used to having. Big, strong and a bit ungainly, she shows what can happen when you grow into yourself.

I happened to turn on the TV just as the rowers were getting started. What a thrill to see a local win a gold. I used to go to The Covenant School girl’s b-ball games and saw her play too.
