This giant press releases giant press release just fell across my desk and I thought I should highlight the important part:
AT&T is committed to providing reliable communications before, during and after a storm, and delivering the highest levels of service quality for customers under all circumstances. Millions of residential and business customers depend on AT&T for critical voice, data and video communications, as well as entertainment services.
With Virginia coastal residents preparing for Tropical Storm Hanna, AT&T is providing important communications tips for residents and small businesses to use before, during and after a storm.
AT&T is obviously doing a feel good PR campaign with this. Real translation “oh you scared little humans, AT&T is here to save the day in the face of emergency, danger and evil.”
Well, I say to you AT&T, how about you fix your problems and issues with non-emergency situations before you brag about an untrue “high service quality” to Virginia customers? More BS in More locations!

The only way AT&T customers can get reliable service, as far as I know, is to switch to another carrier.
@1 LMAO… no you didn’t!
TOO FUNNY!!! You know… I think, even while working for a company that partners directly with AT&T and Sprint, that all cellular providers are just giant smoke-and-mirror companies that like to gyp anyone they can.
I like AT&T. They have cool products. They may not work worth a s**t south of town, but I like them. They give me good service “most” of the time, and I get to fulfill my gadget fetish.
This announcement, however, cracks me the hell up. I snorted up my kool-aid.
@2
Philbert, i hate to burst your bubble, but AT&T doesn’t work a s**t north of town either. basically once you pass Hollymead, if you stray more than about 10′ either side of US29 you’re boned. their customer service is a frakkin’ joke as well, thought not as bad as my past experience with Sprint or what many people deal with from Verizon. You are, however, right in that AT&T has great gadgets. unfortunately, many of them are very pretty and sparkly but don’t work a s**t either. the hardware companies need to stop putting bells and whistles into handsets and start working on improving the 30+ year old voice call tech that’s in the phones.
i’ve used u.s. cellular for two years now and have never had a problem. never! and i travel. there’s no voice mail lag, no dropped calls, and their customer service people are so nice. really! it’s the only service that works at my parent’s house in west-by-god also. had cingular the last place i lived and it sucked.
i seem to be the only person with at&t w/o significant problems. yeah, it drops a bit in the valleys out towards palmyra on 53, but so did sprint — to be expected.
is this why my alltel service has been dropping calls for the last 36 hours?
