The Alliance for Community Choice in Transportation sponsored a bike ride across Charlottesville to raise awareness about alternative, greener modes of transportation. Despite the poor representation of only 15 people, I know plenty of you bike to work, take public transportation or carpool. Now that gas prices have come way down from their astronomical highs, I wonder if people still have the same desire to do all those greener transportation things.
Do declining gas prices make you less likely to carpool, bike or take public transportation?

I’m hoping that people continue to shift their habits and lifestyles to a less auto-centric way of life. Cost of fuel is but one factor that comes into the equation; human interaction is another.
Suggestions for a place to leave your car if you live downtown and hope to bike during the days?

i live on a winding county road. i see auto-centric humans interacting all the time by pulling scraped and bloody spandex bike-weenies out of the ditches and roadside shrubberies. Anyone know what that sissy spandex and polypro shit is made from? Anyone think it comes from tundra moss or discarded caribou antlers or anything other than petroleum distillates and plastics? Wanna save the world… wear a leather jacket and cotton kahkis and walk.
Burn as much gas as you want–it’s not like polar bears are using it, and when Exxon Valdez generously gave a million gallons of oil to the puffins and seals, all they did was wear it.
Dang, if I hadn’t already put another option in there, I’d have added:
