The Garage Goes Dressy

Tomorrow night…The Garage Goes Dressy!

This Friday from 6-8pm there will be an unveiling of a giant dressy outfit created specifically for the Garage, downtown’s newest artspace/concert venue. Local artist and curator of the Garage, Kate Daughdrill, has created a 21 by 12 foot outfit to cover the entire exterior of the Garage. The dressy outfit is a form-fitting, vintage piece that falls somewhere between business casual and formal. Come in your dressy outfit so you don’t feel out of place!

After the First Fridays opening, Dusty Brown (NYC) and Joe Pollock (Cville) will be playing solo shows starting at 8:00pm. It should be a very special, intimate night with these two amazing musicians!

PLEASE-please-please come to this, as many as possible, if only for a short break from friday-drunkie-eve.

i LOVE this venue and love the organizers and LOVE the possibility that this quirky new venture will succeed.

Anyone have the resources to bring cookies and a bigass coffee-urn, inexpensive art to sell inexpensively with percentage to donate to Garage, random oddments to hand out to fellow attendees, etc., just to make it a more layered and fun-filled evening without Garage having to foot the bill or solicit this sort of emolument?

If i can find enough change in my sofa-cushions, i’ll try to drag along a joe-roadcrew monster orange-thermos of hot mulled cider or something for distribution.

Would otherwise come but required elsewhere. This sounds like more fun than where I’m going.

    Shame
    i’ve actually invited you a 25 yr-old 5′10″ slender blonde singer-songwriter and poet MUSE,
[not as my date or guest, but just b/c the venue is awesome].

@4: That’s a really interesting description for someone for whom what they look like isn’t part of the job requirement

just trying to be helpful, so he’d recognize her if he comes…
he doesn’t know what i look like, and i won’t be sitting with or near the gal anyhow.

/as before, it’s not for me, i’m not looking.

Shen, I have a hunch I know who you are after a conversation(a real live conversation) with someone yesterday. May be a one in 5 chance I’m correct

If I am correct, you have the makings of a fine Muse

Oh, well you’re a real Sherlock Holmes then. People only regularly describe what I look like and where I work etc everyday on here.

Of you I am less certain save for an anecdote you (?) left about running in for a coffee before they towed you away. But I have no interest in sleuthing…..

shen is far too much of an artist herself to be merely a muse.

    Yeah, I need a muse.
Twenty-something writer needing to revive creative effort seeks muse.
Requirements include: the ability to inspire, a way with the French language, being able to put up with tantrums, good at cleaning brushes, an eye for color, good taste in music. Must be strong enough to hold me back when I decide I must drink the entire bottle of wine instead of finishing the painting.
