Original members, lurkers and newcomers alike must notice some cVillains get way more attention than others. Be it posts about them, or other people commenting about them in completely unrelated posts, there is definitely the aspect of an online “it” crowd. How did it happen? Researchers from Harvard and UC San Diego have found genetic influence in social networks:
The researchers found that popularity, or the number of times an individual was named as a friend, and the likelihood that those friends know one another, were both strongly heritable. Additionally, location within the network, or the tendency to be at the center or on the edges of the group, was also genetically linked. However, the researchers were surprised to learn that the number of people named as a friend by an individual did not appear to be inherited.
So does this mean that the power of the internet, where fake profiles and anonymity rule, can still leave you with a social-less life? Sadly the answer is yes. Maybelline always said, “Maybe She’s Born With It”, maybe she’s right. I will crawl back into my hole of obscurity now.

It’s probably also got something to do with refraining from writing date-rapey posts. There’s a lot less tolerance for woman-hateration on this board/blog then any I’ve ever come across (and man-hateration considering the whole How to Break Hearts thing, now that I think about it).
Atreyu, who said you could sit at our lunch table?
Tits or GTFO.
@3: I believe you mean Tits or GTFO.
Vanillavy is wearing Walmart brand tennis shoes. Let’s point and laff.
I think popularity on Cvillain boils down to not repeatedly asking where the drugs are, man.
I quit
Dont quit Atreyu, we all know there is nothing funny about rape.
Unless of course, one is being raped by a clown.
Bwahahaha… especially with a spinning bowtie.
That’s what you get for dressing like a balloon animal.
Well…
Wonder how many lurkers there are?
@12 …is a deep subject. You are welcome. For some reason talking about this subject makes me feel like I’m in high school all over again.
@13 Including regulars who lurk? I think popularity is one of two things here: a prior knowledge of who the person is IRL and a combination of wit and snark.
@8, 9, 10 There is still justice in the world
So according to the article Floozy and Shenanigans are wearing the same genes?
#14 that clown photo creeps me out. reminds me of that serial killer in Illinois that dressed as a clown and taunted FBI profilers…
I consider a lurker to be a person that does not ever post just hangs around… I know several of those….
@ 15 That is not the clown you’re looking for…
I’m popular
Oops…I’m popular
If my mom says I’m cool, I guess that makes me cool, genetically, right?
Floozy WISHES she could fit into my jeans. She’s been eating too many Kalteen bars.
I get the impression that a lot of people that regularly comment on this site actually know each other in real life. Am I wrong?
I think that would contribute to the inside-joke, always-got-your back mentality that makes many lurkers shy away from actually posting. It also makes the site seem clique-y at times.
/who’s ready for the revolution?
I dont know any of these freaks.
I don’t even exist in real life.
@23: Thanks to cVillain parties, some of us have met and found common interests, yes. Does that leave some people on the site out? Maybe. Perhaps we need more cVillain events.
found common interests
She means we hate sobriety.
Echo are you that mad at Lance Armstrong that you still have that cheat to win thing in your name when you post? What’s up with that?
i used to not exist in real life, but now i do, and my real life person doesn’t exist in real life.
@26 echo, get on that!
@28: Cheat to win is one of my life mottoes. I used to have that bracelet, but it broke. I can change it to bear attack victim. People seemed to like that picture.
@29: Now that I have been reminded soberly, I think I will.
@30 how’d that happen?
@31: Richmond
ew, then i don’t suppose i want to know.
the insiders spend a lot of time hanging out on the site, as well.
We all have boring desk jobs.
I’m doing work, posting on here and planning a potential cVillain party all at the same time.
they’re also quite defensive
I wasn’t trying to be defensive. I was trying to hint at an upcoming party.
I meant just in general, but you’re showcasing my point beautifully.
“I wasn’t trying to be defensive”, he said defensively
i just hope none of you ‘popular’ (now…and online…perhaps) people don’t work for me…
Double negative. Haha. That means you do hope it.
@ 43 I’ll bet you are a blast at parties.
When there is work to do, I do it, quite well actually. When there is no work to do, its just me and this here box. Judge not lest ye be judged, oh sucker of innocent fun. Sheesh.
@ 41 rather.
@45 quoting myself, -back
really strange echo…
