Minor Sues Danielson over Breach of Contract and Fraud

Halsey Minor, the Landmark Hotel investor, has just filed suit against his former local developer partner, Lee Danielson.  He’s already fired the guy, and now he is demanding  $100,000 in compensatory and $350,000 in punitive damages.  But, the most important details, is that Minor wants OUT of his obligation in the development agreement which is probably worth a whole lot more than the half million in the suit.

Will they settle and let Minor out of the agreement?  Who knows, but it sounds like we are going to have a monster ghost building on the mall for the next two years.  Anyone remember when the local government bailed out the Omni construction?  You think Charlottesville will bail out the Landmark?  Time will tell.

    This seems like a departure from the last confusing post about Minor and how construction had not actually stopped and had PWN’d all the old media, etc etc.

    Hahahahahahaha!!! I just read the Cville’s article, a bit inappropriately snide i thought, their sniping at greatness. The difference between what we do here and what they’ve done there, is that ours are bemused and theirs are petulant-petty jabs.

    I TOLD you HM was the bright-shining-lad of our collective community soul. I mocked HM when HM wasn’t cool. This guy is terrific, just terrific; what a magnificent addition to our town. We needed an eccentric and dashingly-bad-boy bazillionaire with an awful haircut; he just keeps getting better and better and better.

    I assume Mr. Minor’s lackeys read these posts–is there an address to which i might send Mr. Minor a resume and praising note, hitch my wagon to a star? Could one of you drop it to me at otterdung-at-gmail?

    {an aside—did everyone notice in the papers that our former bazillionaire waitress-bottoms-pinching boozer eccentric sam shepherd just got a messy DUI somewhere? poor fish; if he hadn’t abandonned us, we’d have seen him home in a cab.}

    Does that mean HM isn’t buying drinks in the hotel bar anymore?

    @9 Sure he will, I imagine him on the roof of his steel skeleton hotel with a bottle of Bourbon, as the cops try to talk him down, while he screams “top the world, ma -top of the world”. Just climb up there, say your here for your free drink and I’m sure he will give you a swig.

    It’s opening the same day that The Landmark is due to open. Which is awesome because that’s the same date that Halley’s Comet comes around again so we can watch it from the rooftop bar… if they can get our fucking piss-soaked shit-stained nursing home beds up there.

    Lee Danielson was at CDC last night and someone kept asking me to go hit on him or something. I was like, “Nooo! Why do I care about some old dude?” Maybe if it was HM I’d have gone and said something.

    @17 they will be hoover nursing beds with jet packs by then! Plus they will have built in nano roombas that will clean up. The only problem will be if the box turns out to be dry- um I mean doesn’t serve booze.

    the hotel bar, says the Cville article, is to be called MINOR’S. hahahahahahahahahahaha.

    @18
    i think HM and LeeD are roughly the same age, but LD is cash-liquid, and betting around here seems to suggest he’ll win The LandMark lawsuit. If he doesn’t, one assumes the luxury hotel-chain in Dubai called The Landmark will later sue HM for trademark infringement.

    if HM has what few $$$ remain to him tied-up in lawsuits, and no credit, or art to sell, does that mean through neglect that his haircut will get even WORSE?

    Odd that he doesn’t comment on Cvillain so much anymore; you’d think with no construction going on and all his businesses in receivership or tied up in litigation, he’d have plenty of time on his hands.

    Blagojevich, not HM. Just clarifying.

    And judging by the fact that all the barriers are coming down around the Landmark, I’m guessing we’re never getting the Landmark Hotel. But it will make a sweet urban playground!
