UVA Credit Union Has Phone Scam Problems?

Remember when the University of Virginia forget to renew its website domain? Or do you remember the time when the UVA credit union had a glitch that caused all accounts to go to zero?

We’ve received several reports from birdies that say they are receiving calls from scammers claiming their UVA Credit Union account has been disabled.  Neither had UVA Credit Union accounts, so, if you get a pre-recorded call, it’s probably not true.

Also got it this morning. “Your account has been deactivated. Please enter your 16 digit credit card number.” Umm…yeah…right. Click. Reported to appropriate authorities.

They at least had this posted on their site within minutes. Of course it might now be time to look for a new bank. Which one won’t collapse?

my girlfriend’s dad got the call, don’t hold it against the credit union, probably the safest, more ethical form of banking available.
