Oh my – a cartoon in the Cavalier Daily depicts Greek members in one way AND there’s a picture of someone in a popped polo that has a UVa hat on and he therefore must be Greek. Ipso facto, all of them wear black Izod popped collars!

Some? Some?! Does anyone in the real world really dress like these freaking kids? Swear on Thor’s hammer that one day, stopped at a traffic light, I saw the ur-prep in the form of not quite svelte yet not quite plump denoting a life of economic and worry-free leisure chickie with a blonde newscaster bob, pearl necklace, bright pink-green-white skirt just above the knees with a matching bright pink polo (collar down, thanks be to heaven), and white cable-knit sweater tied around her shoulders. Clutched in one hand was a green coach bag and she had white Keds on. And it wasn’t just one, it was a murder of them. Immediate and unconscious reaction? Laughter.

absolutely, Shen. check any comic strip of SORORITY AUTHORITY, and all of them have popped collars on IZOD LACOSTE shirts, alligator. i think it may be lack of prep background that would prevent the use of the one name or both for the other, as being familiar only with the newer incarnations.

Izod used to be a part of the Lacoste company, which makes polo shirts with the little alligator on them. I’m sure there are some UVa frat boys who have owned a polo shirt with a gator on it.
