And start your own business, or so says Money Magazine, in their review of the top 50 places to open up shop, Charlottesville ranks #19 among ’smaller cities’, and is the ONLY Virginia city to make the list in any category. We fell a short distance away from first and second place, currently being held by heavyweights Billings, MT & Bismarck, ND.
Apparently we stand out as good spot for ‘brainy businesses’, as we have a local talent pool of UVa grads (specifically Darden), the availability of venture capital, and the apparently ‘low cost of living’.
Our European-esque downtown mall also received high marks in the plus column. [Photo Credits]

Low cost of living? Compared to where, exactly? Bismarck, ND? Oklahoma City?
*double snort*
Fuckkkk that. I have to drive to Richmond, just to make enough to pay my rent and bills with one job. In C-ville I had to work 2 jobs to do that. Low cost of living my ass.
in my experience, most employers do not understand/execute the cost-of-living expense increase.
that, or I’ve been working for the wrong MAN.
