Once upon a time it rolled you. Actually, that was a random girl from the crowd asked to draw cards, and yours just about JUMPED into her hand.

Speaking of which, did you ever go to Ten? How did your veggies treat you?

I REALLY try not to influence my writers in any way as far as restaurants go. If I were to, I’m afraid the credibility of the review could be called into question. Sean and I have been talking weekly about when we will be in as a group to hang out, and I’m only waiting on their ABC license.

As far as music reviews go, I sometimes ask my writers to attend certain shows, as the bands press people have asked cVillain for coverage.

I haven’t been to Cassis since they switched to small plates. It used to be my favorite place in Cville. There’s a lot of French Bistro competition in this town.

you don’t NEED to get small plates. steak is still a meal.

the fact that I haven’t been back to Cassis since they swtiched to small plates is not the reason why I haven’t been back, although I appreciate the tip.

oh, it was the reason for me. but having gone the once and really enjoyed my steak frites & calamari i don’t need to return for a long time. bc PP is better. and has a much better outside. and the 4-tops are bigger. and it’s a lovely date spot. and service at cassis if you don’t have micah is kind of weak.

What is it that makes it better? I’ve been to Cassis & Fleurie numerous times, and Petit Pois only once. All were excellent, but I’d have a hard time judging Cassis/Petit.

I like Cassis over Petit Pois for originality. PP is rather predictable. I don’t like the itty bitty tables at PP, but I guess you’ve got to make due with the space you’ve got. Steak frite is better at PP. I think PP lacks in seasoning (both salt and herbs, etc.). Cassis is a better date spot. PP is more see-and-be-seen.

Cassis lost me when I heard about it being a nightlife spot complete with table dancing. I’m not sure that I s the case anymore.

          I think they’re just different.

disagree about l’etoile > fleurie even though my steak was cooked beautifully last 2 times i went to l’etoile & overcooked last time i went to fleurie, & i don’t understand why the chick at fleurie wouldn’t make my reservation for the time i wanted when there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant. but generally the food is exquisite at fleurie. and service is better. and desserts. and the sweetbreads. and wine.

Cassis has definitely moved away from the OXO late night table-dancing crowd. A friend of mine tried Cassis around a year ago (I’m guessing , not sure of the timeline) and was disinterested in the thumping stereo and crowd. He was glad to return for this event, and be able to enjoy the evening.

Not to say that I personally don’t condone late night thumping stereos and table dancing.
