While attending a downtown concert a few weeks ago, I was mulling over whom I should talk to regarding coverage of the Virginia Film Festival, when I fortuitously ran into an old friend. Alexander had introduced me to William S. Burroughs long ago, and knowing that Burroughs was responsible for nicknaming John Waters, I thought this could provide a solid pointer as to who should tackle the fest. Alexander and I decided to engage some of the more offbeat items from the 80+ showings, as the more mainstream ones are likely covered to death.
Trapped in world he never made, Alexander wanders through life perplexed and confused by the things others take for granted. His strange and skewed perspective can amuse and illuminate as well as disturb. Pursued by a demon of boredom he is compelled to go out, over and over again, to watch and experience, forced to socialize and make new friends, lest he be consumed from within. He enjoys film, music, literature, things that are cute, and everything strange.

I wonder who you should have gotten for coverage of an event that’s over. Granted, a lot of stuff can be written about what happened, but how long are we going to really be interested in things that happened days (weeks?) ago? I mean, it’s not 9/11 or the birth of a child. You should have gotten him on board beforehand, so that he could guide us through the VFF, rather than just telling us how gnarly and rad things were and we should have been there, totes.
Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity.
There are a LOT of components of cVillain we are working on improving, and being ahead of the game more consistently is definitely one of them. Once I have individuals in place, and ready to move on opportunities, we will be in a better position to guide from the front, as opposed to covering from after the fact.
I liked your ‘Snark The Vote’ article, and if you feel like writing more often, I’ll start shooting a few things your way.
Meh… I am a terrible writer, I’m afeared. I’ll write a crappy piece of crappity crap every now and then, but I can’t handle “assignments”.
I commented here not to be mean, but to give gentle constructive criticism.
You met William S. Burroughs?
Through his writing we became odd friends.
