Skynet Seeks Local Human Capital

Counter_IntelligenceThe 2010 opening of the new Defense Intelligence Agency location north of Charlottesville is bringing quite the deluge of job opportunities, with a current list of over 100 open positions.  The job fair is open for application entries until midnight tonight (November 24th), and carries with it a hefty $64 Million in possible salaries.

The DIA is a major producer and manager of military intelligence for the Department of Defense, and also serves as the lead organization for the Defense Intelligence Community.  It will join the existing National Ground Intelligence Center, a branch of the Army Intelligence & Security Command, which was founded here in 1994.

A few interesting positions:

  • Missile and Space Intelligence
Assess foreign air defense; short-range ballistic, anti-tank guided and anti-ballistic missile systems; and associated command and control components.
  • Measurement and Signature Intelligence
Provide oversight for the development, coordination, direction, and implementation of the U.S. MASINT system, a centrally managed virtual “system of systems” distributed throughout the armed services and agencies, providing technical, actionable intelligence supporting military operations, counter-terrorism, counter-proliferation, arms control, treaty monitoring, counter drug, and environmental monitoring during peace, natural disaster, crisis, or war.

They also have openings for their vaguely ominous “Human Capital” department, which seems to take Human Resources to a new low, name wise.  [Info]  [Photo Credits]

Are you using IE? I noted their requirements for that specific browser on one of the pages.

LOL, the Skynet thing just really makes me laugh. It is without a doubt a complete summary of the media as it stands today. You don’t understand it? Compare it to something in a movie that has zero true relevance to what is actually going on. “Star Wars” would have been 100 times more accurate, because that is basically what it was called at one point in the 70s… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_Defense_Initiative

Which in and of itself is funny as hell simply because it is more of a comparison to point out how unrealistic the idea was… until it worked.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I think the Star Wars reference lost some of it’s relevance after the prequels, not to mention it had been done already, as you pointed out.
