Watch for a Dominion Virginia Power rate hike in the near future. The power giant might need a revenue boost if it loses a $1 billion lawsuit filed by more than 400 Chesapeake residents upset about the use of coal ash for a golf course. The Virginian Pilot has the story in which the residents allege that Dominion execs and developers ignored warnings that the coal ash would pollute drinking water.
It appears the warnings came to fruition.
The lawsuit calls the development a “toxic waste site masquerading as a ‘golf course,’” according to the Pilot. The story says people in the neighborhood where the golf course was built no longer use their own well water; instead they get fresh water from a spigot at the Centerville Baptist Church.
The lawsuit is still in the court system and Dominion isn’t talking. Neither are the residents or their lawyers. But, according to the story, there are plenty of documents, including notes from Dominion meetings. So this story won’t die before more details emerge.

I did some research before using the picture for the U2 article, and with the proliferation of digital re-use, I’m not too concerned.
Blinky is the shit.
