I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike
So I just got a new job that’ll allow me to ride my bicycle to work most days. Just in time for $12/gal gas season, too. I need a bike tune-up pretty badly, but I’ve never been to a bike shop in town.

Which bike shop deserves my business?
C-ville bike and tri?
Blue wheel?
Community bikes?
Performance bike shop?

For me, this is curry-eating weather. Who has the best? I’m partial to Just Curry’s lamb curry… plus they give you free tupperware. I’m sure I’m missing out on some stuff I don’t know about, though.

I don’t know Lance Brenner, but after Saturday night, he is a legend. I know how concerts work and his seemless presentation of 10 local bands was amazing (and surprisingly well-attended). Although I didn’t leave as a fan of every band there, anyone who wasn’t there missed out.
I know some people in the bands are regular readers here, so I apologize in advance if I don’t heap praise upon your efforts. Not everyone is ready for the big-time. I don’t mean to crap all over your music and friends. I have never performed on stage and admire your balls for doing so, even if I think your music is weak. Anyway, I am just one guy with questionable musical preferences (as proven here: What’s wrong with pop?).
As a public service for those unfamiliar with the local rock/hip-hop scene (as I was before Saturday night), here is my subjective account of each band:

I love Utne Reader magazine and highly recommend it as a Christmas gift. I came across an article in the most recent issue and it seems so… I don’t know… “Charlottesville”… in a good way. A link is below, but here is a summary if you have actual work to be doing on this Thursday (unlike me):

Tomorrow night (Tuesday) at Satellite Ballroom will be a great night for unashamed pop fans. Kate Voegele, Cary Brothers (”Blue Eyes” was on the Garden State soundtrack), and headliner Ben Lee (just as famous for dating Claire Danes as he is for collaborating with Ben Folds) are fun and, objectively-speaking, adorable. While I can’t vouch for the two openers, I have seen Lee perform before and he doesn’t disappoint. That, and he is damn nice. Anyone see him last year at Starr Hill? His new album, “Ripe,” is as catchy as anything as I’ve heard lately. What’s wrong with pop music as escapism? I like avant-garde music as much as the next person, but not everyone has to be innovative like the Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes, or [insert name of that other band no one has ever heard of that is awesome but can’t get too big because then they will be sellouts and I can’t be a fan of sellouts].
Maybe I’m not living up to my moniker, but I’ll gladly be there tomorrow night.

Not to turn this into Perez Hilton, but I’m 90% sure this guy was at Fellinis #9 for brunch yesterday. Was anyone else there yesterday who can back me up?
Also, $4 for 9 pieces of roasted potatoes? Delicious, but still… INCONCEIVABLE!

The only event that really matters in my book is the opening of Wes Anderson’s “The Darjeeling Limited” at Regal Downtown on Saturday. It’s about damn time!

Any thoughts on his best film so far? Am I the only one who is excited about this?

Any thoughts on having an ambiguous cvillain.com gathering? We could all show up at some typically crowded venue and try to guess who is in on the secret and who is just there because they would be anyway. I’m realizing that I dont (think I) know anyone involved in this site and it could be a fun little social experiment.

Ryan Adams had meltdown at show (again)
I wonder what would have happened if he had pulled something like that here. Where does he get off?
